I hope this topic is in the right place..

I am trying to set up a small studio for podcasting. I am using my PC to record everything but coming into the PC I am using an older 6 channel Teac mixer. Connected to it is one mic and a Cd player. When I connected my laptop to the mixer it was fine, until I plugged the the laptop into the wall. After I got an incredible hum. The laptop is connected to the mixer with RCA at the mixer side and 1/8 pin at the laptop side. It was that connection that was causing the hum and seemed to be unavoidable.

But the mixer isn't grounded and I'm not sure if grounding it would help.

It is definitely only when the laptop is plugged in. Any help is appreciated.
