Just received one last night actually. I had been eyeballing this for a few weeks now. Product works great. Replaced (4) remotes I typically use. Using it with an iPhone 3gs. Preprogrammed codes worked on all my devices with the exception of a Sony 5 disc cd changer. I haven't tried the learn command yet to program it because quite frankly, I don't have any CD's in there. lol
Back to the remote adapter: small unit plugs in to the device, the app, when run, inverts the screen so the device points at the receiving units, very little battery drain, and customizable layout makes it easy to change around to your preference. You don't get the feel of the actual button which I could see being a problem for some. The only issue I have is that you can program favorite channels into the remote that are suppose to function as a 1 button hit. I have DirecTV and as an example, I programmed channel 241 into the remote. When I press it, the remote delivers it to the DirecTV device to quickly and only the first number registers. So it goes to channel 2. I'm sure an update to the app can correct that by adding a small delay to the number entry after the button is pressed.
All in all great product. And the comparison to a Harmony remote costing $250..., well I don't have first hand experience with one so I couldn't tell you about functionality, however, on a cost basis, I already had the iphone and many people already have itouch devices. So spending $70 to get the remote is much cheaper than 250 for only a remote.
