Hulu Unveils $9.99 Premium Subscription Service

Hulu, the online TV and film portal, has finally rolled out a subscription service, according to a note posted to the site on today. For $9.99 a month, subscribers of Hulu Plus get access to a full season's worth of their favorite TV shows--and even past seasons in some cases. The shows will be accessible to subscribers on the iPhone, the iPad, and on some television sets. Soon it will also work through the PlayStation3 and Xbox video game consoles. Hulu Plus will still have ads, just like the free service does but many of the programs on Hulu Plus will be in 720p high definition.

Wait, currently Hulu offers 5 episodes of shows, and sometimes more (Stargate SG-1 had all 9 or 10 seasons and I watched all but the last few episodes because it got dumb). As long as you log in once a month, you'll be able to watch 'em all before the oldest one(s) is removed. So I don't see it as a huge plus to offer an entire season or more. Oh, and there's still commercials?

I'll recap,
-You get a whole seasons worth of shows instead of just 5 weeks worth,
-Commercials are still there,
-720p on "many" of the programs, but not all.

And I can have all that for only $10/mo? Eliminate the commercials and I'll think about it.

I wonder if this means that shows currently available on Netflix like "The Office" which I can watch in HD now will be taken away so I'd have to get Hulu to watch them? Sorry, only going to pay for one service.

If they ever get to the point where they carry enough different shows it would be worth replacing satellite (no more paying for 700 club!)

Wow...that is more then I am paying for Netflix. Many shows are on PlayOn, which is only $20/year. Pass.
