System is 5.1

Paradigms in a 16 x 22ft room, 24ft vaulted ceilings.

Noticed the header says poll will AutoClose on April 10. Yet, the page states that the poll is already closed. What gives?

It was improperly configured. Anyway, can you add an extra category for 2.1 (soundbar with subwoofer) or should we just vote 2 if we use a soundbar (with or without a subwoofer)?

.1 means sub. .2 would mean what? 2 subs!

Touch every third person and you'll find stupid!

I have a Yamaha RX-Z7 set for 3 zones;
ZONE 1
Klipsch series II
(2) RF-82 speakers - Floor Standing
(2) RC-62 speakers
(2) RS-52 speakers
(1) SW-310 sub
(1) C2 Rear Center
ZONE 2
Klipsch
(2) RS -52 Surround
RVX-42 Center
ZONE 3
Yamaha NS-AW350W 2-Way Indoor/Outdoor

The Yamaha Z-7 replace an RX-V3900 -- Does anyone know
how you would configure ZONE 4? There are no other zone
speaker terminals for a Zone4?

Thanks in advance,

Should I upgrade to 6.1?
Consider 7.1 with front wides instead of rears, if your avr can support.

Just like the set-up instructions in 99% of the manuals and posts (primarily) I've read, your question doesn't allow for those of us using a 3.1 configuration. Step children...that's us.

5.1. I have no room for rear speakers. I could probably do presence speakers up front if I wanted, but it sounds fine without them.

I wish the poll broke it down into more options, as the listed ones obviously didn't reflect what is being used.

I have a 7.1 system and the speakers for it but I have it set up as a 5.1 speaker system instead. Why? because 5.1 is good enough, I do not notice any improvement in sound for movies with 7.1 and 7.1 means more wires and in a large room that's a pain.

So 5.1 I shall stay until they truly improve all home movie sound coding.

Soo you don't have a AVR or Pre-Pro that does DSX ? cause if you do have DSX capability you are missing ALOT from either Heights Or Wides

5.1. I've tried 7.1 with the addition of surround backs, but my room doesn't allow for optimum placement.

Since my setup was first for music, second for home theater, I have a very powerful 7.2 setup. For certain music I do shut off some of the surrounds depending on the type of recording format. I agree with everyone that there is a huge lack in good movies with decent 7.1 support but that will be changing quickly as they remaster movies to blu-ray! I know it wasn't asked, but my system is a top of the line Yamaha and when you add the dual 500w subs it really is dynamic in certain movies! I love the genuine "at the theater" feel I get! By the way, I love the great folks here on AVS forum! I've learned alot reading your great posts! Keep up the great work!
