Not in theory.
If you work in anything vaguely related - cellular, audio for home/car, any communication service, anything vaguely visual/video etc. If you work in a service business that services any of the above, ok.
You can create your own company for a day. They want to see a business card or letterhead.
"Domingos Audio" would look good in a nice font on your letterhead.
I write:
This is to authorize "Mr. .............." to represent us at CES in Las Vegas etc.

I just hope it's not crazy disorganized like last year. There was no more food by 11:45 for journalist when they open the lunch area at 11:30 because they let too many so-called journalist (read: leeches) to grab multiple lunch box even though they only have one I'd badge.

Members unable to attend CES-2012 in person, can watch hours of live walk-arounds and interviews conducted by Leo Laporte and the TWiT crew, streamed daily from the show floor at TWiT-TV, with repeat streams overnight.

Most shows can also be download later in the day as MPEG4 video podcasts, at TWiT-TV Live Specials.

Always wanted to attend, however don't they require industry crudentials, or pass, of some sort?

There seems to be lots of contests to attend the CES this year - entered every one - elsewise, after a new Furnace, AC and Patio door replacement this year, funds at an all time low! Add on a LG 55LV9500 purchase, plus a 55LW9800 on pre-order - although, just got a member's preview of the 55LW9800 at Frys - the pre-order may get canned - Grey Side and Top Bars! What happened to Black? CES and the 72" set?

Nothing is for sale on site. It isn't that cold. A light jacket will usually do. Anyway, 95% of your time is spent indoors in LV.

I came very close to attending CES about six or seven years ago...by that I mean I spent New Years in Vegas and saw signs that it was happening later in January...after I would have already begun recovering from the trip to Vegas...

The Priority Code" INVITE 1011 " works for free exhibits only admission if you register through Oct 31 of you missed the earlier free admission deadline.

Its a trade only event but there really is no strict checking of credentials.

You are supposed to have a business card to pick up your badge and you click a box when you sign up that you are attending a trade only event but a lot of enthusiasts attend. If you can justify yourself being a small business or affiliated with someone in the industry its a non issue. In practical terms its only the obvious people like small children or obvious spouse following after a main attendee that get checked. One you have a badge its a non issue.

Tens of thousands attend and once you get the badge you can do what you want.

Right On.

Its a trade event but that's really just a screen to keep out the obvious kids and family who waste the time of the exhibitors. Rarely need a business card to pick up your badge and once you get a badge you are golden.

I go every year.
The AVS party was always an event to look foward to especially when manufactures came to represent and demo their products at the party!

I have a badge but unfortunately the friends I was going to attend with had to cancel, and I can't afford a hotel room alone out there.

I'm in the same boat and have gone to CES for MANY years (helped to formerly work at a company that ALWAYS had a large booth at CES every year). In the past, I've usually brought my proof (work badge and business card), just in case and shown it to them.

I'd rather not do snidely's method... I've likely already spilled the beans by contacting the CEA at the bottom of http://www.ceatechenthusiast.com/faq/list. The FAQ mentions getting in on Thursday and Friday (last two days) for those who are "CEA Tech Enthustiast" members, but the last day always sucks since the show hours are shorter that day and everyone's packing up the last few hours.

Know of any companies giving out free attendance codes that would also bypass the credential check? I'd hate to travel there, pay for hotel, etc. and be turned away despite me be a CES alum for MANY years, in the past.

I'll be attending CES in 2012 (for my first time). Would very much enjoy meeting other AVS'ers at any organized function or even just at an informal gathering.

I have my badges, but skipped last two years after decades of rarely missing a show. The product mix has shifted away from a lot of my own interests, and this year the show dates may conflict with family plans. Right now its a 50/50 chance. AVS party might shift that.
