We want to extend a huge thank you to all who have submitted avatars for the new site. We've narrowed it down to a final five for folks to vote on. Remember, once the new site goes live, you can always use your own avatar or even one of the others that were submitted in the previous thread found here:

I just wanted to remind everyone that this element will have a large visual impact on the site as an avatar graphic by posts as a default option, so you will see it in the future.

I like them all, but #4 stands out. Looks like something out of 3,2,1 Contact. Really cool.

When I scrolled down I liked the look of #1 but #4 took that and bumped it up a notch to be my #1 choice.

Can you add a second line with the avatars at their actual resolution? The smaller size will give a different visual impression, it's important to see them in the proper context. I think #2 will benefit when viewed at the correct resolution.

Accuracy in reproduction is important. This is AVS forum, after all. Even the avatars are held to high standards.

Congrats to the top 5 avatar creators.

I like #'s 1 and 4 but thought they would get fatiguing after a while. On that score #3 may be more appealing. In the end they all look great and congrads to the authors.

In my mind it was a toss-up between #1 and #4 and #4 won out.

I also want to see the avatars in the same sizes that they will appear under our names. #4 in full size is really nice looking, but the thumbnail version of it doesn't look good at all.

I see #4 is most popular. While I like the look of #4, to me it just says "video" while ignoring "audio" (the "A" in AVS).

I really think #3 is the only one that works as a avatar. It's a silhouette of a person with RGB colors... which is what a avatar should be on this site. "a movable image that represents a person in a virtual reality environment or in cyberspace"

They all lack both Audio/video. Why not combine 3 and 5?

Buttabean does have a point. There's one week left in the voting.

Restart the poll with 80x80, no white background, and use Buttabean's image to replace the lowest scoring avatar? I voted for #2.... *sigh*

Of any of those options, I like Buttabean's the best. For the reasons laid out in his post.

Seggers

Mits 73835, Denon X4000, Emotiva UPA5 (triggered), Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40s, CS, 10s, the internet, a NAS drive, a TiVo Series 3 and an Oppo 103 (bye bye PS3). There's also a Wii, but we don't talk about that...

Well buttabean will have his avatar available as an option.

I voted for #4 but I might have voted for the revised #3/#5 combo as the best if it was in the original poll.

It meets what I thought would be the best criteria of being not a burden when its seen a zillion times and as a default option I like the anonymous nature of the person figure.

I don't care, agree that number 4 looks best. Thinking of using one of mine avatars. Wondering where AVS draws the line

The vote chosen avatar is to be a "default" icon for those members not having one already. As for your question you'll need to contact a AVS Admin.

I voted for #3 and I also like Buttabean's alternate, but I think ajohnson1's plain boring ones are the best.

Of course, everyone knows that the greatest default avatar of all time is the one for the Something Awful forums:

Although #5 is the only one (IMO) that incorporates both the A and V elements of AVS, it's kinda dull, so I voted for #4.

While the creator can tell us for sure I assume what you notice are particles drifting in the air through the bright light of the projection. My opinion is this effect is used to add dimension and realism to the ovall image. Geat attention to detail. Number 4 received my vote,
