Hi All...

Now for something totally off topic. smile.gif

As some of you long-time readers know, my wife and I have decided to sell off everything—well, almost everything—and move into a 2014 TOUR private motor coach to travel the US. As we go, we plan to stop along the way at AVS meetups and, of course, industry events. So we will be touring the US in a Tour. smile.gif

What will this machine look like? Well, for the inside, you will have to wait and see once we take delivery. But don't worry...it has four flat panels in it (a 32" in the bedroom, a 40" at the front of the coach, a 55" in the living room, and a 40" outside) complete with HDTV OTA, DISH Hopper, Assassin HTPC, and a Roku box, all connected with a 4x4 HDMI matrix switch.

We just posted the latest entry on our travel blog (Outside Our Bubble), "The Amazing Process of Painting a Class A Motor Coach," and we wanted to share it because we found this to be an amazing process.

Have you ever wondered what goes into the painting of such a fine Class A motor coach? We did! And we are happy to share the story with others with thanks to Winnebago and CDI (the painting company).

In a nutshell, it takes a lot of man hours, and I mean a LOT! Below is a link to our just-published entry about the process and an photo essay of 80 images. This is the birth of our 2014 TOUR that we take possession of at the end of this month.

The Amazing Process of Painting a Class A Motor Coach

It is truly amazing how much work goes into giving these coaches a look that turns heads. I hope you enjoy seeing the process as much as we did.

Of course, we will show you the inside of the coach as soon as we can, and we will keep you updated with the areas we travel to.

First stop....NYC CE Line Shows! smile.gif

Hope to see you when we hit the road in our new Tour.

Thanks Ralph. We are in for quite an adventure. Now I need to find a home for my 5 Lyngdorf Two Channel Amps ($800 each) and a new Anthem D2V 3D ($6,000) if you know anyone. smile.gif

That is an exciting adventure. I am sure you will both enjoy the company, and many sites. Your new Class A Motor Coach looks amazing from the outside, I am looking forward to the interior pics.

Thank you for the legacy of AVS, that is my passion and hobby.

Best wishes to you both.

One of the many items I will end up missing is my bet. But yes, that is one hard thing to give up based on the quality I built into it along with the support of the industry.

Very nice!!! Although I was expecting the AVSForum Logo to be present somewhere tongue.gif

Looks awesome, can't wait to see the inside.

There is a TV show, not sure the network, called extreme RVing... very cool show. You and your RV could probably be part of that show David.

Just as long as you stay away from Beverly Hills.

Everything there seems to coated with DNR with massive amounts of edge enhancement. Plus, aspect ratios seem off at times.

Well, we will be in NJ actually as the RV Park, cough - parking lot, that is right across the river. 10 min ferry over. That really is the closest we could get. If I wanted to come into the city with the coach, I think I would hire a professional driver for NYC. smile.gif I have been driving a 43 foot coach from 2008 and feel I do well, just do not care to deal with NYC.

I would have loved to park it outside the hotel of the show or the letting gathering we are trying to plan.. smile.gif

But thanks for thinking of us with your driveway. biggrin.gif

I did this about 10 years ago and it was fun at first. but I quickly got tired of travelling by myself.
I eventually returned home and haven't used the coach since.

Sad to say another regretable purchase...

Our new coach is set to arrive on Monday and we will then start the move in process. Look for videos of the new coach that we will be "TOURING" in.

Until then...here is a video I just shot and edited to say goodbye to our current coach...(Best viewed in HD)

Well, bad news all. We will not have this new coach to bring to CEDIA. Long story short, to many issues with it when it arrived. Yes, a very costly coach comes in to be delivered with issues it should have never left the factory. Yet Winnebago sent it to us anyway.

For the full story including a gallery of images, please be so kind to see the travel blog. Please also feel free to leave a comment about it.

http://www.outsideourbubble.com/winnebago-no-sale-of-special-ordered-coach-lack-of-build-quality

My wife and I are so besides ourselves. This was not how our new life adventure was to begin. It was to begin with a new home. In this case, the motor coach.

That's terrible. I can't believe they would let something leave like that and then not make it right.

Way too many issues. The tile work was done by a guy that just did not care. The tile comes in sheets and you can clearly see where the guy just started off at the wrong place and never bother or cared to fix it. Walking away was the thing to do in this case.

I emailed Winnebago to show my support for you David and my dissatisfaction with the way they treated you and your wife. I did this after reading the full story on your blog and an article in one of the online RV sites. Winnebago's lack of caring and willingness to "just let this go" really ticked me off. As a business owner I would have went down a totally different path than they chose. I hope this all works out and sometimes things are for a reason smile.gif
