Been lurking here for a long time just dreaming of what might be in the future. Hoping one day to have my own build thread, but for now my 33 inch CRT tv will have to do while I'm abroad getting my masters degree.
Here's to joining you guys down the rabbit hole!
I'm Shane from South Africa. Music is my companion!!! I've long been interested in different audio formats since as long as computers have been around, encoding my CD collection into 128kbps MP's and re-encoding my collection over again and again as new formats became available. Since acquiring my new speaker system, Logitech Z906 5.1 THX with DD & DTS support, I am finding even more ways of wanting to re-encode my collection into lossless formats to achieve the best listening experience from the computer, lol, to much time on my hands, I know, but I have learnt a lot since then and there is still lots to learn.
Hi everyone. I'm not nearly at the level of most of you people, but I enjoy high quality multi-media experiences. I'm called, "GhettoSonic" because my rig probably costs peanuts compared to everyone else's, so hopefully I'm allowed to be here.
Hi, I joined after looking for info as to why my new Bose SOLO would only only work with my digital tuner on the SHARP AQUOS, and not replicate the DVD or PS3 sounds... To my chagrin but useful info, I did find a thread from possumgirl here that explained that SHARP TVs are not a good fit for the BOSE SOLO... darn it... They did not tell me that at Best Buy!!
I will keep looking at solutions.. will return to the Bose SOLO thread for that... Thks
I've been going through this forum sporadically for a few years now and decided to make the jump and join.
I starting setting up my small home cinema this year and experiencing some issues hope to get help from other enthusiasts here.
Thanks for the welcome, I've surfed your forum for awhile but never thought I'd need to go deeper than that. I'm sort of a dabbler in hifi or home theater and figured that I can just figure this **** out on my own... yeah, I'm joining the forum in admittance that I am wrong and that I don't know crap and I need help :)
oh and Go Hawks!! lol
I'm JD from Oz. Finally got around to joining after years of reading posts…probably coz I'm looking to upgrade my equipment :-)
It was state of the art in 1999. Anything changed since then? :-D
Just in case, apologize for any typo or incorrect English, I'm French
My current equipment:
HC amplifier: Denon AVR 3313
Disc player: Denon DBT 3313
DLNA server: synology DS210j
Speakers: B&W CM series (1st gen, CM7/CM1/CMC) + PV1
Video output: Sony VPL VW50
In the pipe:
Get my CM7 to breathe a little bit more with a Rotel 1572, biwired (so far, this is my current choice)
Upgrade my NAS with a more serious synology solution (probably DS1513+)
Upgrade to 7.1 with a pair of B&W M1 for surround
Any idea or comment about that are welcomed
Take care and all the best for 2014!!
Happy New Yearll!
Just got a new Samsung UN55F9000 for Christmas. It's incredible! Upgraded from a five year old Panasonic 32" so I'm in heaven :-)
Now looking to upgrade to a decent Home Theater receiver, so I'm looking for some advice in that arena. Looks like things have changed just a little since my 20 year old Kenwood AV receiver was released. So I have some research and learning to do.
Found the site when I asked a question about sound on The Green Button forums. A member here was kind enough to point me to an excellent thread which answered my direct question, but created a hundred new questions. People both here and at TGB seem extraordinarily friendly and helpful.
Look forward to getting involved in the forums.
Thanks for the nice welcome note!
I'm Mat and my main interest is computers. When it comes to hi-fi, I love simple and elegant solutions. I'm here because I need some advice of hi-fi pros which I hope to find in these forums ;-).
Hello to You all,
My name is Dorian and I live in Poland. I hope to find here a professional advice to some questions concerning my lack of knowledge of Hi-Fi world..
I wish you all the best in 2014.
My direct email is email@example.com if you need to chat with me.
Glad to be on the team.
Good afternoon ladies and gentleman. Well I've been reading threads periodically on AVS for a few years now. I finally decided to join the forum as I have the opportunity to purchase a Samsung 55" 4K TV for $1950. But I have a few concerns about input lag and am hoping to find all my answers here!
Thanks for the welcome.
I've lurked on here for a couple years, researching info on TV and audio purchases.
I decided to join to request info on the HD TV area. I live in central North Carolina and plan to "cut the cord" with Time-Warner cable and go to HD and over the air channels only.
My name is EagerLearner and AVS Forum has been my go-to source for technical questions relating to technology. I look forward to interacting with all of you, and I hope to learn more about the products I am interested in.
I've been researching bluetooth speakers lately, one thing led to another and I started lurking here some more so I decided I should finally make myself a username!
I'm also into high end audio, just haven't the funds for investing in much yet.
Hi all, and thank you in advance for the pro-info. I am an IT Professional from Oceanside, NY. Have been a fan of Sony for years and sprung for a new XBR65X850A and the 4K Media server for me and DH for Christmas!
It's been an odyssey...got the wrong model delivered (KDL-65w850a) and finally got the new set this morning. Been using Sony TVs for years, but this one's anything but plug and play. After all-day tweaking, I don't seem to be getting anything near the resolution we saw in the stores. Turning to all the pros on these boards to get some direction on how to get past the install so we can start enjoying the experience. Happy New Year and thanks all in advance!
