Hello, my name's Phill and I'm an audioholic. I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist that although I'm sure it's been done already...
Anyway, I've been building separates systems for years, owned more pairs of speakers and stereo amplifiers than I dare count and even built my own amplifiers back in my college days.
My two current rigs are my AV stuff and my stereo kit. My AV stuff is currently a NAD T742 receiver with Mordaunt Short speakers (908i at the front, a 905C center and 904s for rears) paired with an XBMC front end as a source. The stereo kit is a Rotel RA-920AX, a pair of Wharfedale Evo 8s and a Dual 505 turntable - although this is my current focus for upgrades.
Through the years I've owned various kit - one of my favourites was a pair of Wharfedale Linton 3XPs that I inherited and loved - until my ex-wife dropped one.
I'm guilty of trawling this forum for information over the years, but I've never joined until now. Wish me luck!
Hello there AVS world! Im a new member here I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Boston, MA and I am a member of Artisan's Asylum. I run a website www.randomactsoftech.com where I chronicle my home electronics projects. If you have a few minutes to kill check it out and send me some advice!
Greetings one and all,
Wayne Charlton here. I live in northern N.Y.S., on the banks of the mighty St. Lawrence river. Yes, actually - I can see Canada from my window. I am forty eight years old, male, Christian and my political bent Libertarian. I consider myself an Audio/Videophile.
I am in the (extremely, painfully slow) process of completing a dedicated, acoustically isolated/treated home theater room.

Hello, I am Fbccars924 or FB as I am commonly referred to by friends on other forums. I am an avid guitarist and love my music. I am also an avid DIY'er and frequently work on my own toys be it a car, ATV or audio gear.
Been a salesman in the electronics business for 10 years now, and have been to your site many times for info, thought it high time I use some of my down time passing on some of the knowledge I've gained over the years.
Thank you for the welcome. I joined to learn more about "cutting the (satellite) cable" without cutting out television. We are native Missourians and live just far enough outside of the St. Louis metro area that we will never see a Charter or U-Verse truck in our neighborhood. The literal end of the line for both of them is at each end of our 2 mile stretch of road but we do live close enough to receive most of the major broadcast channels OTA.
I will be digging around in the DVR & Media Server areas if someone is looking for me.
Thank you for letting me hang out!
Hi all from New Zealand (below Australia, Lord of the Rings, All Blacks etc.) , I don't have much of a home theatre setup at the moment, but am looking to make a home theatre PC from scratch (brother making the case with professional equipment, he's an designer/engineer) and thought I'd gather some wisdom.
Casey hear, Learning to listen more fully and enjoy the every expanding ways of hearing and the amazing sounds this world has to offer.
Love the dynamic passion folks hear have for sound, and I am picking up on new audible ways of ingesting frequency.
May the music we love find us effortlessly and take us to our deepest enjoyment!
Hallo, just joined this forum after extensive research on what 3D camcorder to purchase. I found this forum to be very helpfull, therefore decided to join. My first footage was shot when I was about 17 years old with the VHS camcorder of my mom that remained "In Service" up to my wedding. At the birth of my daughter I bought a Hi8 camcorder. I upgraded to a Mini DV in the DVD age. 3 years ago I stepped into the Full HD area. And now history is repeating itself: my son wanted a Full HD camcorder for his birthday (turning 17...) to create video (check out YouTube and search for "Party Parkieten"). With our upcoming trip to the USA where we will visit parks and such, I wanted to enter the 3D era. Just put two and two together: my son was very happy with my Full HD Sony (including carry case and extra battery) and I could go out and find myself a 3D camcorder.
Ultimately, this turned out to be an akward moment to find such a device.... The last new HDR-TD20VE's were sold a week ago... The HDR-TD30VE is out of stock... Apparently a new model is upcoming, but we will depart next month! What to do next? In my little country (The Netherlands) no second hand TD10E or TD20VE was available. A Panasonic Z10k was. However, since my wife and I also like to go away on our BMW motorbikes, I was looking for something more portable. Both TD10E and TD20VE were available on eBay Germany. Just purchased the TD20VE. The only downside of this camcorder is the smaller distance between the two lenses (20 mm iso 30 mm). Cyclopitcal introduced a Stereo Base Extender for the TD10E, such a device would make the TD20VE the perfect camcorder: more pixels, sharper stills, recording 2D in 50p format available, shorter distance to objects possible and, with the SBE for the TD20VE (not out yet, why not??) long shots in 3D!

How can I refuese such a warm welcome message from Scott...
So here a few things about me. I am a bit of an audio enthousiast, and have been able to build a set that I like in the past 4 years. My hobby also fueled me to promote some nice new products, like the Olive media servers. In the last years I have been selling (as distributor) and servicing these fine machines. I think I have seen quite some of the issues that might appear, and I'm happy to say that, with the help from Olive, I have been able to solve 99% of the problems, only a handful of systems needed the expert hand of the Olive engineers.
