CES 2014 is right around the corner and I'm really excited about attending what's sure to be a great show. Scott Wilkinson and I will be there for the entire duration, covering the latest AV-related innovations. The thing is, the variety of products on display is so vast that the two of us could never hope to cover all of it. That's where you come in—we want to know what AVS members are most interested in.

With your help, we can hone in on the sort of products that pique your interest. We're definitely covering new TVs and projectors from the major manufacturers, as well as screens and home-theater audio. I'm also going to spend some time covering high-end audio.

What do you want to see from the show? Any suggestions should be AV-related and fit into one of the categories found in the forums.

I'd like to see under $500 AVRs with Audyssey XT 32 and multiple independent subwoofer outputs up to 4.

HT gear represented at the CES shows has been on a decline for years now. I don't even go there expecting to see much of that anymore. At least, not much on the HT audio side of things. Hell, even projectors were scarce the last year or two.

What I am looking forward to seeing is more 4k/UHD developments of sorts. Really hoping there will be some announcement for a UHD BD format.

Much more 4k content, and larger 4k tv sets at very good prices. Some 4k lazer projectors, bulbs are expensive to replace.......also brighter 3D picture technology. Last but not least wd media players with some video chip like Qdeo marvel integrated in them.

Panasonic coming back to plasma is the ultimate dream lol............

some decent sub $500 dual hdmi bluray players, maybe even some with hdmi 2.0. would be great for those if us that still have older hdmi 1.3 tech or a/v processors that don't have 4K passthrough.

I'd like to see some high-end pre/pros that are modular and can be updated in the future without having to replace it.

Does it at least leave you curious what Panasonic is going to present at the show?

If I was there I would want to check out the Glyph VR Retinal displays. Any 4K OLEDs, 4K blu-ray players, and large format true FALD, IGZO, Motheye 4K LCD.

I would ignore gimmick sets like curved displays, 105" 21:9 Samsung and LG, and any large format OLED that has no chance of becoming an actual product.

Competition between HDMI 2.0 and Display Port 1.3 (From what I've been reading the DP is the much preferred!)

I'm a bit of a Samsung fan. I don' really know why, but I just can't stop loving them. So needless to say, I will be paying very close attention to what Samsung shows. As far as what I'm hopingto see, here are my top 3 wishes:

1. Reasonably priced UHD flagship model (H8000)

2. Maintain the elegant and simplistic styling. The F8000 is one of the best looking TVs you can buy. I hope Samsung evolves that styling without making it too

3. The last few years have been too focused on smart features and voice controls. It would be really, really nice to see Samsung pit more effort in improving picture quality for this years TVs.

1. The LG 55" non curved OLED that was shown at IFA.

2. Information - which manufacturers are working on 50" or less non curved OLED? Do any expect to have product to show at the 2015 CES.

3. A new display that represents the joint efforts of Panasonic and Sony.

Thank you imagic. It will be very interesting to read your impressions about this product, relative to its "personalized" HT movie application/potential. Apparently they are working on a 4K version too. If this product is all it's claimed to be. It will be the most inexpensive, high quality "Big Screen" experience available anywhere ($300).

Between HFR & 4K resolution, I wold be curious about physical media that has both the capacity for HFR 4K content and the throughput to deliver such a rich stream to a 4K TV. (Not everyone believes that we can stream 4K, let alone UFR 4K, over typical Internet connections; during peak times I do well to get 480p! At least, not until the whole nation gets fibered to each individual house.)

Another thing I would be curious about is a "seamless" multi-panel TV or some other way of getting a wall-sized TV through doors, hallways and turns. At some point, the limiting factor on TV size may be just how large of a unit we can get through the doors, up the stairs, and around the corner just to get it into the room where we will be doing the viewing. Or will the realm of wall-sized TV always be forfeited to a projector and "silver" paint? And a multi-panel TV could raise the possibility of having separate TVs in different rooms, but bringing them together to temporarily have a larger, combined TV for, for example, viewing 2.40:1 without the need of letterboxing, or a giant TV for a party, and after the party it could be easily separated back into separate TVs.

My very humble setup:
Spoiler!

An AVR or sub-3k USD pre-pro with Trinnov room correction/spatial processing.

Pioneer-badged speakers from Mr. Jones featuring concentric drivers at a price point cheaper than the old Pio EX line..

Yamaha, Pioneer, and/or Sony getting serious about room correction in their AVRs. Audyssey imposes silly compromises, ARC is single-brand, Trinnov isn't currently available except at the extreme high end of the market, and Dirac is to me at least an unknown quantity. Pioneer and Yamaha seem to have the sharpest AVR hardware, but they both need room correction competitive with ARC.

A modernization of Audyssey that finally deep-sixes (or at least makes optional) the crappy speakers compensation notch, handles multisubs better, and perhaps allows more target-curve flexibility without having to spring for an extra license and extra hardware.

A good standalone multisub system optimizer, a la Geddes or Harman SFM.

Mark,

Please check the 4k PC Monitors from Dell and LG.
Dell is shipping the 24" 4k model now with the 4K 28" to follow soon.
While you are at it, have a look at the new 21:9 monitors from Dell and LG.
Up to 34" is what we have been told in the 21:9 format.
Will be cool for gaming, etc.
