All I want is Blu.

I'm currently brainstorming ways to justify and expand my Blu Ray buying habits!

Avoid the urge to upgrade my 3 year old panny v10 to a vt/zt60 and save up for a 4k OLED 60". Hopefully something like that will be reasonably affordable in 2-3 years...

I totally agree. Went from Harman Kardon AVR254 to Arcam AVR 600, and purchased a 55VT50.
2014 better be a quiet year :P

Minor is to update my surround speakers and clean up the wiring in my equipment room. Primary project is lighting automation throughout the house. Including tying it in with my security camera system.

• Ordering a new sub this week (SVS SB12-NSD)
• Install Kinect lighting
• Build 2nd row riser
• Finish trimwork
• Perhaps upgrade to the Oppo player

Enjoy!

EDIT: SVS just announced 2 new subs, glad I didn't order quite yet. Looks like I'll be going with the SB-2000 now!

I upgraded almost all of my A/V components in 2013, but there's still a lot to do in 2014:
  • Kill off wall, floor and ceiling light reflections using black velvet (in a wife-approved manner)
  • Upgrade from 5.1 to 7.1
  • Make drapes to block off light from the "pub" during parties
  • Add acoustic room treatments
  • Run Room EQ Wizard
  • Install an outdoor FM antenna
  • Finish digitizing my CDs
  • Digitize my cassette tapes so I can sell my deck

Mark,

What agency did you go through to hire that model in the first photo?

I'd like to hire him for some up coming events if he's available.

Research and set up a decent sound system for our pole barn. Nothing expensive, just good sound for dancing the night away at our vow renewal. That's my New Year's A/V challenge. smile.gifbiggrin.gif

I'm assuming you are talking pro-audio gear so I would check flea markets for that kind of stuff. Also check ads for churches that are closing.

I am going to complete the install of my new system. Then I am going to work on getting other components to add to the new system such as a CD/DVD player. We have a BD Player already. Then maybe I will add another component.

Lots of posts I agree with and sympathize with!

I'd like to upgrade my main Dynaudio L/R with the next size up and move the current ones to the surround position.

There's a good chance this will happen.  Once that happens we'll have to see how the system balances out.  Will I need a second sub at that point, I doubt it since the room is so (relatively) small.

Theater seating.

I'd like to add some more diffusion to the room treatment mix since the theater room is so dry...absorption is so much easier and less expensive than diffusion.

I may DIY some sliding doors with room treatment over them to prevent reverb from the nether regions of the house, my decay times are not the best.

A better job to support this stuff:)

A few years from now I'd like to upgrade the Kuro to a 70" equal quality panel.

Like a lot of other folks in this thread I am limited by the home layout.  Somewhere down the road I'd like to upgrade the home, likely move, less likely remodel.  The current location is so ideal but I can't see remodeling the place unless it's one of those one wall remaining remodels, the layout is just that bad.

1) Finishing "blacking out" the area around my screen with triple velvet.
2) Get a new subwoofer, my current one is dinky (Polk Audio PSW111), Think of an Hsu VTF-2 MK4.
3) Get a darbee for my projector setup.
4) Possibly cut the cable cord (Football and baseball are the only things holding me back).
5) Maybe upgrade my center channel from an LC1 to an LC2.

Oh and MAYBE attempt a CIW setup once 1) is complete.

Since I already upgraded my tv, AV Receiver, 2 main speakers, and Blu ray player in 2013 I really have nothing left so I guess all that's left is my center channel speaker to upgrade along with a new power conditioner, plus throw in some more Blu rays and that's it for 2014. Nothing big and nothing new or expensive for the coming year. But you never know but I do know that my Tv will not be replaced anytime soon because there's nothing out there tv wise I see replacing my excellent Sony HX850. Two small minor upgrades and I am set for 2014. biggrin.gif

Hi all,

I'm new here, but my new year's resolution is a big one!

Today I just got the "green light" from my local civil department of construction allowing me to build an expansion to my house, which is going to become my very own mancave!
So I'll be building a HT from scratch, and I plan on doing as much planning, drawing and constructing as I possibly can myself :-)

This will be major project as this is a first, so you'll probably be hearing a lot from me.

I'm really excited about it and already welcome all of your tips trics and expertise!

Happy 2014 y'all

It's a new year. Will you resolve to build the home theater of your dreams?

Hehe, WOW, those RF-7 ii's sure are beautiful!

So my new years resolutions are to upgrade my receiver to an Onkyo tx-sr 905. I also want to upgrade my projector from 720p to a 1080p Viewsonic pro8200. biggrin.gif As for speakers, I just upgraded everything in 2013 to Klipsch Reference RF-3 II full range system. I just upgraded to dual Elemental Designs a2-300's and an Elemental Designs a3-300 - only sub upgrade i'm going to do is to add another eD a3-300. Also replacing our projector screen blackout cloth and gonna build acoustic panels and bass traps. biggrin.gif

What a fun idea for a thread!! smile.gif
