totally understand. I ended up with the blue only because that was the only dark colored carpet I could buy at an 'end of the roll' price, haha. painting the room to match seemed a logical step after that to me.

I actually have the same chairs in my theater, well 2 of them are, in black. super comfy chairs.

either way, you made it look fantastic!

When I saw the fabric color you chose on the thread, I was not so sure it was going to look very good. When I saw it in person I was stunned at how nice it looked. I must admit, the color scheme is one of my favorites on here. Very cozy.

I love my iPhone, but it will never replace my turntable.

Congratulations on a superb home theater. Maybe I'll get to build one into a new home I buy someday instead of trying to shoehorn a HT into existing space!

Shoehorning a home theater into an existing space is a time-honored tradition! Look for that in an upcoming HToM...

Yes Scott, I'd like that a lot. I'm sure that it will give me lots of good ideas of how to improve my shoehorned home theater!

Also, don't forget this HToM—a serious shoehorning job!

Excellent work David. You'll be able to enjoy this for years to come and your son is going to be very popular with his peers when the latest blockbuster comes out on Blu-ray!

I can't believe that would be the obstacle in this build. I'm planning on doing a room-in-a-room style sound proofing in my house, but I keep seeing all these awesome HT builds that don't utilize that approach and it has me feeling like there's some major downside that I'm not aware of.

It says that there are six low frequency channels being used but I only count five low frequency speakers (two subs and three mid bass modules). Is there another one hiding somewhere?

Yes, the fourth is at the back of the room.

This post gave away the true secret of the Savoy, David's use of the Pringles Speaker Can.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I always like to see builds where the homeowner's actively involved like this... this time however the whole family got involved!

I'm soooooo looking forward to the meet on Saturday June 28th for your grand opening! Six or seven of us are coming in from KC -and I think most all repeat visitors to one of David's previous g2gs! We all will vouch that David knows how to throw a party. It's exceptional that you are willing to share your new space with the community right out of the gate! Shoes off everybody!

The music trivia game was a blast last time, and the white elephant gift exchange was hilarious. Die Hard Trilogy on VHS! A Nintendo video cord? HA! Great food, neat guests, excellent fun - even lawn games outside!

This one is going to be epic! Congrats on building a seriously good looking -- and well thought out theater!

I would say it would be more costly and I believe it would shrink your final dimensions even more. With all the walls, columns, speaker depth, stage design, hvac considerations, riser dimensions and acoustic treatments the room shrinks pretty fast.

Epic but will ultimately have less overall space left over. But if you are planning ahead for that then I don't see the drawback.

Absolutely phenomenal work. When I build my next house it'll have a dedicated HT and I'll definitely be using The Savoy as an example to emulate.
