VS currently the move to Vb has basically broken the Tapatalk functionality\display of the site. When people quote another user it shows as a "blank" post. In order to see what was written you have to select the post, then select "reply". If you need a screenshot of what I am seeing I can try to upload one for you.
Can you please, I will share it with huddler.

Space, the final frontier--apparently.

What's with all the empty space and huge ads? I'm going back to the Iphone 3 operating system, much better LOL. Good grief, it's taking me almost 15 minutes to scan through a page now. I can't get the smilies to work either :frown.

How about renaming User CP? I get it... I know what it is because I'm on other sites as well, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a crappy name...

How about "My Profile", "My Settings", or something else descriptive that someone new would understand without having to guess...

I know that you could call it "Bob", and everyone would eventually know what the hell Bob was for, but that doesn't make it good design...

summing up what a lot of people are saying... let's make things a lot more intuitive overall... and usable...

The feature where avsforum emails you when new posts are added to threads you're subscribed to no longer seems to be working for me. I haven't received an email for an updated thread (and I did check manually that a number of my subscribed threads HAVE indeed been updated) in a day or so...

Not sure if this has been covered yet, but when I attempted to login today, I had username issues. It truncated my old username.

IE, username@emailaddress.com changed to userna. I managed to login with the truncated user name AFTER I had the system send my new login info. That's when I noticed the truncated username.

Just a heads up in case you hear it again.

Will my original username in it's entirety be corrected? Just curious.

I am getting email alerts for replies to threads now. How are these disabled? I went to the link in the email but that removes the threads which I think is the only way to track which threads you've posted in, so I don't want to remove them. I just don't need to get an email every time someone replies.

Misery loves company. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this is a backward move. I rarely go to HomeTheaterShack because I don't like the cumbersome format. Really enjoyed AVS because one could see a lot of info at a glance, go to different forum types with an easy pull down menu and navigate very fast. I didn't need instructions for anything because it was intuitive and simple.

I will say one thing that I find is positive. I'll be spending a lot less time here than I use to. Maybe I can get more things done around the house now.

I have the following set up in Stylish (in Chrome) and it has no apparent affect. Why?

  max-width: none !important;
}

Come on guys, relax. It's really not that bad, just different. People are figuring things out how to navigate faster. Yeah there are some extra steps, but nothing to make me go away (Unfortunately for some ). I am for sure there will be updates to the site that will fix some of the complaints. The only thing I can see that uploading pictures is different, but just as easy. Also the classifieds are really missing allot of the features they once had, but other than that, seems to be pretty much the same. In a week it will all be forgotten and hopefully updated

In "Edit Options", set "Default Thread Subscription Mode" to "no email notification". If a thread is already subscribed with e-mail notifications enabled, you might have to unsubscribe and subscribe again.

I actually like e-mail notifications, but they were better with Huddler, having subject lines like "[so-and-so] responded to your post in [thread-title]"; now they just say "You have been quoted at AVS Forum" and the notification starts with "Dear michaeltscott" .

^ Actually no. Those are for YET MORE ways AVS will now send you emails.

The post above was correct. You need to set your Default Thread Subscription Mode to "No Email Notification", and then for any threads that are still sending you emails, go to that thread and Unsubscribe then re-Subscribe to finish turning off emails from that thread.

Wait..huh?..wazzat?

Post notifications and quote notifications are different things, right? As are "mentions" and "hashes", whatever those are.

I do NOT like this at all. I can't see how many new posts are on a certain thread since I visited it before, when I click on said post it does not take me to where I left off the last time I was there. It's very plain 1997 angelfire looking to boot. Where's the thumbs up? Please go back to what it was. If it isn't broke don't fix it. The email notifications are horribly designed as well. Again something that looks lazy and from 1997.

Wow, I am amazed that a group of people as tech savvy as AVS would kneecap their product as badly as this.

First, I used the search tab to look for various threads that I have been following. I tried:

JTR Captivator
Danley DTS-10
Seaton Submersive
Mini Marty
UXL-18
LMS-5400
WinISD
REW
MiniDSP
Los Angeles HTG

AVS told me that NONE of these words exist - seriously broken!

Second, I finally managed to find the threads that I've subscribed under the user profile, but when I entered them to check out latest posts I found that ALL THE ATTACHMENTS that had accumulated in the thread for readers was gone. An entire knowledge base of WinISD charts, diagrams, links and photos that had been meticulously uploaded WIPED OUT!

Third, a new member started a thread today asking a DIY question. A file I had previously uploaded might help provide an answer. When I tried to upload the jpg, all I got was a cryptic note in the editor box without image. I checked for the images that I have previously uploaded to AVS figuring that I'd use one of them - all gone. A lot of work went into creating and uploading that content, now it's all WIPED OUT!

I have been in the process of trying to decide weather to save up for a pair of JTR Captivators or get comfortable enough to go the DIY route with a version of the Mini Marty UXL-18. With the help of LTD02 and others I've been learning about the intricacies of sub design and zeroing in on a size and configuration that might work. When the website was down I did some new modeling for a larger cabinet and put together some WinISD charts and questions that I wanted to post. But now I can't post the jpg's from my computer. I can't get any answers.

I hope that they get the old functionality re-instituted into the new format. But for now, AVS has gone from being a very resourceful library of data and powerful tool to learn complex information to a poorly executed version of Home Theater Shack where members can peruse advertising and post limited comments.

Specifically, is that the "hash tag subscription emails"?

I've only checked "Quote Emails

I think I'll just check all of them off. I don't need any emails for replies to threads. If that doesn't work I guess I can block AVS emails altogether from my email.
