Wow, I am amazed that a group of people as tech savvy as AVS would kneecap their product as badly as this.
First, I used the search tab to look for various threads that I have been following. I tried:
Los Angeles HTG
AVS told me that NONE of these words exist - seriously broken!
Second, I finally managed to find the threads that I've subscribed under the user profile, but when I entered them to check out latest posts I found that ALL THE ATTACHMENTS that had accumulated in the thread for readers was gone. An entire knowledge base of WinISD charts, diagrams, links and photos that had been meticulously uploaded WIPED OUT!
Third, a new member started a thread today asking a DIY question. A file I had previously uploaded might help provide an answer. When I tried to upload the jpg, all I got was a cryptic note in the editor box without image. I checked for the images that I have previously uploaded to AVS figuring that I'd use one of them - all gone. A lot of work went into creating and uploading that content, now it's all WIPED OUT!
I have been in the process of trying to decide weather to save up for a pair of JTR Captivators or get comfortable enough to go the DIY route with a version of the Mini Marty UXL-18. With the help of LTD02 and others I've been learning about the intricacies of sub design and zeroing in on a size and configuration that might work. When the website was down I did some new modeling for a larger cabinet and put together some WinISD charts and questions that I wanted to post. But now I can't post the jpg's from my computer. I can't get any answers.
I hope that they get the old functionality re-instituted into the new format. But for now, AVS has gone from being a very resourceful library of data and powerful tool to learn complex information to a poorly executed version of Home Theater Shack where members can peruse advertising and post limited comments.
