Beautiful!

Question though - why the three different blu-ray players? I imagine each one is doing something different, so what is each one designated for?

Nice theater. I love a room where performance did not take a back seat to looks. Congrats to you.

Thanks!! Had my grand premiere opening with 4 other couples this weekend to watch Capt. America: Winter Soldier. I sat in the 'cheap seats' in the back row and all still sounded fantastic. I really think the number one factor for the great sound is closing off the equipment (noise) from the theater. It is so quiet when running the film that impact, whispers, music all seemed so much more 'real'.

I agree, A low noise floor is very helpful for total immersion into a film and, makes the dynamic passages that much better.

Great looking HT and good sound science behind it all. Well done!

How "loud" was your theater prior to the upgrade and isolating your equipment?

It was certainly low. I could remeasure with the doors open to the equipment but likely in the 30s (db). But at my listening position, during quiet scenes, I would pick up my projector fan, my mini-split (in the equipment room) and my SSP. The funny thing was the SSP noise was from a fan. I didn't really sound like a fan but when I powered it down, I could hear a layer of sound disappear from the listening position (8 ft away). Granted these are small improvements but they add up. Now, when the system is on, I can hear myself think - and it is odd feeling in the absence of other no audio noise. Odd in a good way. Subjectively, the dynamics, dialog, etc are all improved.

I don't have any equipment that can measure so low, but needless to say, I can't hear any equipment now, no HVAC noise but if i shift my body in my chair, the cushions moving is the loudest thing and can be heard all over the room!!

It's hard to quantify or qualify but the sheer quietness is certainly adding to the overall excellent sonics.

Awesome room! If you ever host a meet, open house, show off, etc I would love to demo the theater. I'm born in raised in Detroit but live in NW Indiana. Still have family back home so I travel back there from time to time.

Hey bland,
As i've said before you got style. The room has state of the art gear that is the envy of many, I like to know are your side surround height speakers directly over the column that has the lower side surrounds?
Are they in between two of the columns etc. The reason I ask is I would like to determine where I should place my ht side surrounds just over the lower ones or off center. From your photo angle I can't tell for sure, however they do look off center to me. I have two sets of the lower side surrounds in my room, like you have, in the columns.I was thinking of mounting the height side surr in between the two and not centered with either or neither whatever..!
Anyway what do you say?
Thanks!

What is your throw distance (from lens to screen)?
I am trying to fit my image into a 135" but if I place mine further than 15 feet from the screen it gets too big.

Just a quick question, I noticed the LT10 height channels closer to the listener. Any reason why it was not installed on the baffled wall?

Lack of space in baffle wall. I could've installed but they would have essentially been on top of the LCRs - too little separation. I got a more favorable angle down to the main listening area bringing them up into the tray ceiling. They are somewhat closer but also higher up (and in the same plane (and height) as my side and back heights).

Thanks!

Jeff are you patiently waiting for DTS:X upgrade before HEMI meet at your place?

Lack of active HEMI meets almost makes me want to drive to some of those in Ohio or another state...

Agreed! But the fact that there is a new release of the atmos board and software that builds upon the original release, is comforting to know. Come August you will be glad the atmos will be as good as can be, the Trinnov will not have implemented those rev 2 changes by then (maybe-who knows).

Just caught this. Thanks so much!

I like Auro quite a bit but in the next few weeks I'll have Dolby Atmos and its 'upmixing' engine. I look forward to comparing legacy music and movie BD's with the upmixer,

So stay tuned.

Best,
Jeff
