Do You Have a Dedicated Home Theater in Dallas, TX?

While I'm at CEDIA, I hope to visit a home theater in Dallas to feature as HT of the Month. Would you like your room to be considered?

This year, the CEDIA (Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association) Expo will be held in Dallas, TX, October 14-17, 2015. While I'm there, I'd like to find a dedicated home theater in the area that I can visit to shoot video and interview the owner. As part of a new initiative at AVS Forum, that video will become part of November's HT of the Month.

If you live in or near Dallas and would like your home theater to be considered for this project, I invite you to post a photo or two in this thread over the next two weeks. Soon after the July 29 deadline, I'll contact the member whose theater I select to make the arrangements. The shoot will take place on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 17, or during the day on Sunday, Oct. 18.

I look forward to seeing what Dallas has to offer in the way of awesome home theaters!

What a cool idea! I've really enjoyed the HTOTMs in the past that included a room bio video. The batman one with the hidden shelf entrance comes to mind. Very cool.

I'm in! I live in Lewisville which is about a 20 minute drive north of downtown Dallas. Here are some pictures of my theater and there are more in my sig. I have taken out the grey sectional and added four black leather home theater recliners. The equipment list is up-to-date but not all updates are shown in the pictures. I can post updated photos if need but looks pretty much the same except for the new seating. Would love for you to stop by even if my room is not picked. Thanks!!!

Unfortunately, no. I rely on photos and info from the owners. This project marks a new chapter in HToM, though I won't be able to do it every month, only when I'm in a location with access to a video crew. I'm planning one from Los Angeles for September.

My theater in Mckinney TX. Won top 12 theaters in 2013 for electronic House. Full room acoustics for sound quality and sound isolation. Custom build out and equipment totalling $110,000. Starfield ceiling, custom made seating, curved Stewart Filmscreen, JVC 4K projection with anamorphic lens. Acoustically transparent fabric from Belgium. It's unique because I am a nationally known theater designer but this is my room for demo to clients and personal enjoyment. Feel free to visit it while here.

I mostly can't wait for Cedia so we can all drool over new projector gear! Hopefully 4K + HDR + WCG are buzzwords that are...buzzing. Even 1080p + WCG + hdmi 2.0 would be acceptable, if not 1080p + WCG + HDR even.

Yup! Will be even better if we hear "4k projector" along with "under $5000."

Gorgeous room. Like you, my theater was actually featured in Electronic House as well.

Scott -
Do you have any plans to visit the Washington DC area?

How far is Mckinney from Dallas? How long a drive is it?

I think it's a couple hours just to drive across Dallas itself. It's TX. Everything is big.

Lol, it's about 45 min without traffic from downtown.

Edit: 45 min from downtown Dallas to McKinney. Yeah, it could take 2 hours to drive all the way across DFW.

What are the odds that you would be coming this way and that I would out of town at the same time... I live in Lewisville as well and although my space is not finished yet, it would be a blast to participate.

Mckinney is about 30 minutes North. I go to Dallas pretty often and it's about that distance. But it's about 30 minutes to go anywhere in Dallas so it probably doesn't matter. Glad this is in OCT. Hopefully we are still living here. I am selling the house and the theater and building a new one. My new theater will be very different. 185" microperf Stewart Screen 2.35:1 floor to ceiling almost. I always do something different and fun in my homes to showcase different things. To be honest I have about 20 rooms that have been published so you could visit any of them and they would be spectacular.

LOL. I used to have 2 client locations near Dallas. One in Bedford and on in Plano. On paper, they are pretty close together, but driving between the two always took an hour minimum, and in "rush hour" traffic, it took a lot longer. Now everything is just in Plano, so my visits there are a lot easier. Next trip happens to be in line with CEDIA, so that helps keep costs down for me, but anyway, this is a HTotM thread...

While my theater isn't going to become a home theater of the month, I would still be very interested in a meet some fellow AVS members.
