Is this through trading or finding things on sale, because from my limited research the amps are 4k a piece and your Marantz is around 4k which puts just those 3 items at 12k. Just curious is all, because at first I got REAL excited about your room and the 20k number since it's really an impressive list of equipment.

Great job on the room Dusty and thanks to Scott and Mark for showing folks here that you can do a really nice HT without breaking the bank. Good equipment choices and I'm sure the 10' ceilings enhance the Atmos experience . Do you have any measuring tools like REW or Omnimic?

Dusty: let me add my compliments to your HT and congrat on the HTOTM. I was wondering about the shade of paint..SW has 8 different black colors on their site. Also why do you have 2 NAD amps at 7 channel each? I enjoy my HT with a JVC X 35 PJ, 100" screen, 2 250w monoblocks and Paradigm speakers. My sub is a SVS Pb 2000..Might upgrade to Atmos some day, but for now 7.1 is fine..

Good luck with the theater and have many hours of enjoyment..

Thank you and I have enjoyed following your room as well.

I picked up a used M25 7 channel (older model), had issues with it, and my dealer let me exchange it for the newer model, M27 (with added cost of course). Then I picked up the Marantz 8802 and I "had too have" more amp for Atmos. Said the heck with it and picked up a second M27...because we can't have non matching gear

If/when you get the chance for Atmos, do it.

I have a similar size room 20X13X 10 possible looking into triton 1 as well and I see that your tritons are closer to side walls. I read some reviews needing at least 3 feet from side and 2 feet from the back! Do have any issues with performance?
What's your measurements for the placement?
Thanks

No, no issues at all with them being that close to the wall. I think they are almost 2 feet from the back wall and 3 feet from side wall...I think

Thank you!! Yes, only 4 seats. When we have company over the kids sit in bean bags and we bring in bar stoles for the back row if needed.

Congratulations for HTOM. I love your theater. Can you please let me know what paint was used for screen wall, side wall & ceiling?

Thank you! Yes, Sherwin Williams. My borther-in-law tried to find the paint and was told they no longer make it. There is a new kind but not sure the number.

Thank you!! Yes, I have been looking all over for the right black rug to lay down. I will paint the door one day.

We all bring our own criteria to evaluating HTs, and from my own my first thought was "All black! Great....soooo close...but paint that door and do the rug darker!"

Given the lengths you've gone for a non-reflective room, do you have plans for a darker rug at some point?

If darker carpet isn't in the cards, or a long way off, you could (if you care to) do what others have done: lay down some black velvet
in front of the screen. If you make it neat, it can actually look nice, even if temporary.

I designed my home theater with a black velvet portion beneath the screen and it creates a nice little stage effect, a black box surrounding the screen, which tends to visually integrate the speakers with the screen area better. FWIW...
