I would love to win this! I could get used to a curved screen. I've been trying to be patient jumping into 4K. I have a 60 and 65 inch plasma.

But if I win this, it's gonna cost me. Cause then I'll have to buy a new audio receiver and a 4K UHD player. And atmos speakers and 4K movies. LOL

Nice one AVS, Samsung's QLED sets are amazing! The day of the drawing (Sep 1) happens to be my birthday, so I have to win. It would be a fantastic birthday present and an ideal replacement for my 10 year old 50" Samsung LED DLP. I just installed a new DLP chip in it this year, so I'd move it to the bedroom and use it for another 10 years.

This would be a great upgrade from my current 27" 1440p monitor that I am currently using as my main viewing source.
Good luck to everyone.

WooHoo

Oh yeah, I'm definitely in the "use this as a gaming monitor for my pc" crowd. Since it's curved, it'll do just fine.

Who know. If I win, I might just make do with it as a TV.

On the one hand, I absolutely love the picture on my Samsung Plasma. I hate the occasional loud buzzing though, and would be more than willing to trade in a slightly larger, possibly slightly worse picture for obnoxious buzzing. Plus, I would be able to use my Oppo to it's fullest ability.

Buzzy Plasmas suck, y'all.

The experience with games, when sitting about 5 feet away, is fantastic. HDR games are icing on the cake. Uncharted 5 looks amazing.

My F8500 is in the dump (properly disposed). I had no interest in going back to a 1080p TV that, although a beast for watching Blu-rays (looked as good as any TV I've reviewed), is an anachronism. The buzz and the heat coming off the screen were definitely minuses, not to mention the lack of HDR.

Cool

AVS, thank you for this opportuniy. This would be replacing my 60 inch F8500. It does warm up the room nicely. Fortunately mine does not buzz (lucked out). It is a rockstar to watch, but I would not mind stepping up to 4k. I already have the oppo 203 hooked up to my 5030ub so it would be an easy swap. Fingers crossed

Looks like AutoCal performed beautifully. Wouldn't think there is any need to do any manual touch-ups. Mark, how would you rate the dark room performance of the Q8 compared to Q9, for both SDR and HDR?

So this is kind of crazy, but this is what I've concluded... because the top & bottom edgelit array spreads the LEDs out over a larger area, it's actually less prone to flashlight artifacts than the Q9. What it gives up is the ability to do dark letterbox bars, but what happens is when the Q9 is doing the dark letterbox effect, each zone has to work twice as hard as the Q8C.

The simple fact is the Q8C looks about as good as the Q9F a lot of the time, and sometimes it looks better (and sometimes not) but always very, very close. With letterbox SDR, the Q9F can overcome the side edgelit issue. But with HDR, you could argue that the a lot of the time the Q8C's life is easier so long as you don't prioritize letterbox bar blackness over resistance to flashlighting-type artifacts.

Interesting! I've not owned an edge-lit TV before (jumped from CRT to Plasma to FALD), but I think I'd prefer consistent dark grey letterbox bars and steady dark grey blacks over deeper blacks/letterbox bars that are subject to irregular flashlighting artifacts, especially if the black levels are visually that close. Hmmm...I've put my entry in. Thank you for the report!

Winning a 65" Q8C wouldn't suck. Matter of fact, it would pretty freakin' cool!!!!!! Plus it would be a nice replacement for my beloved Samsung DLP that just died.
