The new AARX18G from Acoustic Research has been delayed till September 2009. No news on why the delay. Can't wait for this remote to hit the retail market. Hope this time it will be out in September. Last I heard this was going to be release in the Spring 2009. I was going to purchase the Harmony 1100,but saw this on the web 2/24/09 and wanted to wait for this remote. Everything sounds good about this remote. Harmony watch out! You Can go their website to find out more information www.araccessories.com

Xsight/Nevo has more memory than you'll ever need. My typical setup uses all 18 devices, as many activities and macros plus a hundred or so logos and icons. I'm still nowhere near the memory limit which is a meg or two. The 256 device limit of a URC would be great, but I'll never get anywhere near that in my lifetime. Plus actually using that many devices on one remote would be a logistical nightmare. In any case, UEI remotes have come a long way since the days when they had one or two kB of memory. And they still use a very efficient storage model where each command is typically only one byte. Compare this to possibly hundreds of bytes for a single command in pronto hex or learned format.

Stay tuned in the JP1 forums for some potentially exciting developments on the firmware upgrade front.

OK, will do.

Thanks for the info.

nohjy,
Thanks for the info. I'm trying to get going with a C2 and RMIR 2.04. This version is different than those in the available guides. I have added three devices but I can't figure out how to do things such as key moves and a VPT.

Would you know of guide or something that describes how to use the new version of RMIR?

#1,186 · (Edited)
The guides are up to date. They have sections just for Nevo/Xsight specific features.
http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/ind...How_Easy_Is_It?_-_RM-IR_Version#Xsight.2FNevo

There is no such thing as a keymove on Nevo. You can assign any function from any device to any button when you edit the Buttons on a device. This takes the place of keymoves. I just added this to the FAQ in the wiki when I saw your question.

VPT is described in detail in the guides (See Volume Lock linked above). But the short answer is on the General tab, pick your volume device for VPT in each device mode. On the Activities tab, pick your volume device in the bottom panel for each activity. This selection overrides the General tab while in an activity. This is also briefly mentioned in the FAQ.

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at the guides in your link and try to figure out how to move forward. It's confusing because I used to use IR and Keymap Master.

Please excuse the simplistic questions, but I can't seem to do the most basic functions.
For example in the Getting Started Guide it says
Assign device icons, button names and volume lock (volume punch through) on the General tab.
But with my rmir file open and the General tab selected, I do not see any way to do the volume lock or button name changes.

Would you mind listing the steps needed to do the volume lock on the General Tab of RMIR 2.04? Also, do you know of a step wise tutorial for 2.04?
Thanks

Pick Master vol device, then turn vol lock on/off for others (fig 1)

Pick specific vol device in each activity (fig 2)

Edit device to change specific button names and assign functions from other devices (fig 3)

Pick functions from other devices and rename as desired using Alias field (fig 4)

Rename existing functions (fig 5)

Thanks Dave, this is just what I need to get on the right track. Part of my problem is the small font in RMIR. On my 24" monitor I have to lean up close to read some of the text of the column headings and cells. Is there a way to increase the global font for a java application?

It looks like an Activity needs to be created for each device, is that true?

Anyway, with your example screens I can read through the guides again and gain a better understanding of the RMIR programming process for a C2. I'll peck away at it a little each day.
Thanks for your patience.

There's a thread about the font issue in the JP1 forums. I haven't experienced it myself, but I think changing Motifs in RM will work around it.

Activities typically use many devices, so there is no one to one correlation. You can have zero activities if you want, but Activities certainly make the remote a lot easier to use. Just think of them as the things you do most often: watch tv, watch movie, play xbox, watch netflix, whatever. I also have lots of devices that aren't associated with any activities.

At the end of the day, activities are just fancy macros. If you don't want or need macros, don't make activities. But it would be a waste of this remote's capabilities and more complicated to use day to day.

Calling all Xsight and Nevo users. In order to better support this remote since EZ-RC has shut down, our developers need your help. We're looking for a remote that was programmed using EZ-RC that has never been written to from Remote Master, is running a firmware older than 1.3.32 for Xsight and 1.3.33 for Nevo (Home -> Settings -> -> About) and has at least one activity programmed. Please PM me if you're willing to help and meet the above criteria. Thanks

IMPORTANT UPDATE: EZ-RC issues have been resolved. We no longer need an old remote for testing. We now have all firmwares and can do everything in Remote Master that the old EZ-RC site did, including firmware updates. We don't have access to EZ-RC device database directly, but we do have access indirectly via SimpleSet.com and have our own large device database plus the ability to create devices from most any other source (pronto hex, technical documents, LIRC, learns, Harmony, etc.).

I wish I had one of my 4 that I didn't use RMIR on. It's your fault 😃! You were the one who kept encouraging us all to use Remote Master. Seriously, I hope you find one. It sounds like you are close to being able to upgrade firmware.

Thanks, but unfortunately it's not old enough as that's the current version. We need a very rare case of someone who either hasn't changed their programming in the last 4 years or has refused the firmware update prompt all that time. In the mean time, we're working a few other angles.

I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and I'm having a hell of a time getting RMIR set back up. The installation had two UAC registry errors in the middle of the 4 "OKs". I ran the Xsight Touch reg file successfully. I still had to manually configure the registry for it to stay "USB Connected" but RMIR didn't want to read the RDF and Map files in the RDF folder so I downloaded the old files and overwrote them. Still can't get RMIR to see the Xsight Touch even though the remote still says USB Connected.

EDIT: I removed it from Program Files and placed the folder directly on my C: drive. It's working now.

Hi,

I just got DirecTV installed in my house and I am trying to find the codes for my HR 54 DVR and for the Genie mini. I have a Nevo c3 remote. Can I just use the HR 44 codes? Finally, what is the Parm field and do i need to make special settings to have the ir work? If so, how do i do this?

Thanks in advance!

John

Remote Master now does Xsight/Nevo firmware upgrades

As you all probably know, EZ-RC is no more. Remote Master can now replace it 100% and do firmware upgrades on all Xsight/Nevo remotes thanks to a lot of effort by our brilliant developer Mathdon and to our friends at UEI. Their website also directs you to hifi-remote.com, home of Remote Master and the JP1 community. Enjoy!

Update: I figured it out, it was a Java problem, Uninstalled/reinstalled Java and it's now working.

I bought a new UHD player and just discovered EZ-RC is gone. I want to try out programming my X-Sight with RMIR but am having problems getting it to run on Windows 10. Followed the instructions and installed JRE, downloaded and unzipped RMIR then opened setup.vbs. I get a prompt asking if want to open this type of file, a dialog box confirming the installation folder and another one saying the shortcuts were created. When I try to open RMIR using the shortcut or by clicking on RemoteMaster.jar I get nothing. There's a rmaster.err that gets created when attempting to launch RMIR.

Any ideas?

I spent the holidays considering "upgrading" to the harmony elite. After alot of research, I determined that the Xsight Touch / Nevo C3 remote (with RMIR) is still the best IR remote out there, bar-none. I have no idea why anyone would consider anything else, if they do not need Bluetooth or IP. It is so much more versatile than the harmonies. Everything is programmable with RMIR. There is an Xsight Touch on ebay that is brand new for ~$20. That is a steal.

Learning is done on the remote itself. Then you can upload from the remote into RMIR when you're done and they become part of your saved file. But you can only learn IR, not wifi or RF.

If you want to handle learned codes in RMIR entirely, you'd have to learn to some other device or find the pronto hex codes, then copy/paste the codes into the learning tab in RMIR in UEI learn format or pronto hex format.

However, all the Orno and similar outlets I've seen are controllable by wifi only, which your Nevo cannot do. There are many other RF controllable home automation systems compatible with Nevo, but Orno and other wifi outlets are not.

This was my first post and I could not put links to Orno products operating on 433. I wrote about:

3-channel remote controller ORNO Smart Living symbol: OR-SH-1707

16-channel remote controller ORNO Smart Living symbol: OR-SH-1709

Remote controlled socket with dimmer function ORNO Smart Living symbol: OR-SH-1702

All of these products are controlled using RF 433. Using the Broadlink RM Pro and RM plugin application I managed to read the pilot code. It looks like this:

How to add it through RMIR. Which Device Type, Setup Code and Protocol?
