I have the following:
Samsung LN52B750
Samsung BD-P4600 (uses colored buttons)
Denon AVR-590 - very confusing remote

I want one remote, but I do not want to loose any functionality.

Right now, I can get the 700 for $119 or the 880 for $99.

Does the 700 series seem like it would be a better fit at this point in time since it is newer and has the colored buttons?

Would another model be more worthwhile?

PS: I am not sure what the future will bring with regard to a cable box vs. satellite.

With the 880 you will get a docking charge station instead of a cable. You can also just name four commands on the LCD screen Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green to have your color buttons available.

Various Costco's have had them for $88 to $98 recently around the holidays. However some have stock and some don't. Brick and Mortar only.

I have one I bought for $88 but am taking back since I picked up a Harmony One.
