I have been reading all about the various apps that allow remote control of your system through an Ipad - I have purchased IRule HD for this purpose - but I am still not clear on a few things. Is it possible to control my devices without using IR codes or commands?
I have the following:
Panasonic TCP-60GT30 TV - has an ethernet port and is seen by the network
Pioneer VSX-1021 receiver - which has its own TCP IP control app
Arris Gateway Cable box and PVR - the ethernet isn't connected with this
HTPC with Imon by Soundgraph controlling it - keyboard commands work to control it as well as IR commands
PS3 for playing blu-rays.
I am wondering if any of the remote programs will allow me to control the HTPC, receiver, and TV through the network connection?
I am going to rule out the PS3 working in this way and I can live with that.
I will also assume that the Arris box won't be controlled this way either. Am I best served to get IR blasters for these devices and the box required to receive the signal and convert it and just set them up in front of both devices? I should note I have the IR to bluetooth converter for the PS3.
My goal is to be able to control everything from the other room if I fancy it - or from my couch when my 3 year old is in the middle of a direct line of sight and the IR won't work.
