I used the 0110 code to recognize the receiver and then used the 994 code with type 00002 to turn the volume off with setup/pwr. I also fixed volume in all modes.
I then tried to make the power work by only using aux/pwr and I lost my original programming.
Now when I power on all devices the receiver stays off---- but power off all will shut all devices off
.Is there a way to have all devices power up and down together

I don't know about the AVR245, but some HK receivers will toggle power using EFC 00173.

There is roughly zero chance that the EFC 00173 would only turn the HK off. Depending on the receiver model, 00173 will either function as discrete power On, or as power toggle. So I guess that you haven't been successful in assigning EFC 00173.

Let's be sure here: If you have a grey OK/Select button, assign Setup code 0110 to AUX. If the OK/Select button is red, assign 30110 to AUX.

Then test EFC 00173 by:
1) Tap AUX
2) Tap Setup (don't hold it)
3) Enter 00173 while pointing the remote at the receiver. When you press the 5th digit (3), the IR signal will be sent.

This should turn on the receiver if it was off. Once the receiver is on, 00173 may either shut it off, or simply leave it on.

I have the red select button and used the 30110 and everything works except power on for aux/the receiver. It does power off with aux/pwr. I tried the aux/setup/00173 and it does toggle power on but I would like the aux/pwr combination to toggle pwr on and off

1) Press AUX
2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 994 (you should see two more blinks)
4) Tap Setup (don't hold it)
5) Enter 00173
6) Press Power (Not AllOn)
The remote should blink twice.

I hate to be a pain but when I did the aux/setup/994/setuptap/00173/pwr --It now powers on with aux/pwr or allon -It just switched the problem to it now will not power off with aux/pwr or allpower. It seems as though you have a choice of one or the other working but not really getting it to toggle on and off

As stated in post#4, 00173 either acts as discrete On, or as power toggle, depending on the HK model. Sounds like the 245 treats it as discrete On. If so, there isn't any way to have a single button control power. That's a property of the receiver, not the remote.
