I haven't seen much that makes me want to trade my Harmony One yet. You'd think after 3 years Logitech would have something better.

Harmony One

Harmony Touch

Harmony 800

I would trade it for the 900 you have in your first picture labeled Harmony One. The One doesn't have a row of colored buttons like the 900.

I did not really like any of the poll options, so did not vote.

Assuming that there will be a replacement for the 900, a variation of the Touch, that would get my vote IF the layout was fixed; moving the transport buttons below the screen (like the H1 and 900) and adding skip forward and skip back as hard buttons. These functions are supposed to be available via Gestures left and right swipe, but I am skeptical about using it this way.

The transport buttons at the top are deal breakers.

Thanks I didn't even look at the picture, I just googled images of the Harmony One. You bring up a good point. If I could add an option for a 900 I would but the poll is locked. In a week if I get more suggestions, I'll create a new thread with more options but it doesn't look many people have much interest in this topic.

i "traded" my h1 for a urc a long time ago and haven't looked back... smile.gif

given all the factors at hand, it's hard to envision logitech putting together something "better" than what they have now...

a "real" market buster might be a wand-style device that docks an iphone to use as the touch screen (and appropriate software behind it)....

Actually the lack of interest says a lot. It means that you are correct that logitech hasn't yet released a compelling replacement for the One. I think the Touch is a good effort and a step in the right direction (sequences are back and improved, touch screen and GUI is improved, and myharmony is finally getting more features). Hopefully were on the cusp of several new releases from Logitech (just speculation on my part).

Well, I like my Harmony One (configured an 1100 today for a client and it drove me nuts) but if Logitech would only cone up with an alternative to the awful online setup tool.

I was in the middle of setting up channel logos for the favorite channels - which is just about the worst part of the setup - had to take a phone call and the session timed out. Lost the whole setup...

I like the idea of a better touch screen but IMHO it belongs at the top like on the Harmony One. Removing some of the media controls and numbers is also a mistake. Most people like to surf and do other things while watching TV that don't require looking at the remote.

To make a ideal remote for me-

1. Take the same physical keys as the Harmony 900

2. Put media controls just BELOW the screen - e.g. FF, RW, pause etc.

3. Put the volume arrows etc, just below that.

4. Put numbers below that

5 Put menu and other less often used buttons at the bottom.

6. Use better batteries

7. Use rubber buttons

8. Use MUCH MUCH better rockers/toggles - the ones in the harmony one's wear out too quickly.

9. Do the same thing but also make those same functions on the One with a slide out keyboard - same layout as the improved harmony one suggested with features 1-8

I switched from harmony remotes (have had the 880, One, 700) to a URC MX-880 about a year ago.

Now having had it, I don't think I can ever go back to a harmony. Its nice to have a remote that's 100% bulletproof, and fast.

That is a nicely laid out remote - like the Harmony One. I'd give one a try if you could get the software to program a MX-880
