I have the MX-650 and the MRF-260 base station. The RF module in the 650 decided it no longer wanted to work. I could shake the remote and here something was loose inside. URC states the whole remote needs replacing and there is no fix for the RF module. Im looking into the MX-450 for a replacement. Looking a a reputable place to purchase this remote . Locally they want to bend me over on the pricing.

Thanks

Try taking mx-650 apart and resitting the RF circuitry. To take it apart, start at the bottom of the remote, with little force to separate the halves slightly just enough to get a corner of a credit card in, then slide it around popping the catches.

I took it apart no problems with that. The RF chip was loose. Where does it sit and what contacts to mate together?

Mine looks like this:

On yours it needs to be resoldered just below where it says CON3 on the circuit board.

Just curious– how many years did you get out of your remote before it gave up the ghost?

Why the 450? The mx-850 is still available and the layout is exactly the same as the 650. Also, the 850 is programmed with a PC.
