Hi All-

I would really appreciate your help with this.

I have been using the MX-850 remote for a long time and am, for the first time, having issues with it not learning certain functions.

I just got a Comcast XR2 remote with the new X1 system and while the MX-850 was able to learn most of the codes it did not learn:

OK
EXIT
PAGE-DOWN
REPLAY

Obviously, OK and EXIT are critical… very frustrating!

I've tried both the off-line and connected methods of programming. Both appear to work (“Good!” messages), but all tests of these learned codes fail.

Firmware: 1.04
Universal Data (not really applicable…): 1.82

Is it possible that the MX 850 is incapable of learning these codes?

Has anyone had success with this combination of remotes? (If so, any chance you could send me a file?)

Are there other RF/IR remotes that I should use instead (that preferably do not cost megabucks)?

The MX–850 has worked wonderfully until today, but needless to say it needs to perform these functions. I’m tearing my hair out.

Thanks in advance for your help!

-Gian

If you can post the pronto hex of your failed learns plus a few of the successful ones, I'll try to help.

Update: URC has a new code set, "Cable 195," that solves the problem! It works for both the MX-850 and MX-800 (the only URCs I have), and may work for others.

Props to their customer service!

You're welcome. I have a favor to ask you though. Many people would benefit if you could spare a few minutes and post the pronto hex for all the new code 195 commands, at remotecentral or here.

I'd be happy to post it, but as a noob, I really have no idea how to do so... I see I need a special receiver(?) and some software to capture the signals(?), or is there another (easier) way to directly convert a .mxf file into pronto hex?

If you can post a CCF file, I can convert it to pronto hex. But I remember very little about the URC software, so I'm not sure how to make a CCF file.

Through your mx-editor, program the cable device, from the cable library, under Comcast. Then look for Xfinity IR only, that should be code 195.

Try the live update icon, satellite looking symbol, see if it upgrades to allow newer codes like 195?

Live Updates gives you this: "This software can no longer be updated......"

try the NXG software at remote central:

http://files.remotecentral.com/view/6955-18496-1/nx-rm820_editor.html

The nxg nx-rm820 is a rebadged mx-850.

Just upgraded to the Xfiniti X1 and have three MX-850 remotes that I need to get working. Can someone help me get the 195 commands. I have the old editor that wont update and it does not have the 195 commands.

Also I tried the NXG software above and it appears to only goes up to command set 151.

Under cable> Comcast> xfinity. I have code 195, I don't see 151 under Comcast anywhere.

On my old editor software the highest code set I see is 111, on the nx-rm820 software listed above the highest I see is 151.

Edmund, which editor version are you using?

I don't have an MX-850, but I do have an MX-700.

I created a new cable box device, assigned the Comcast code to it, and then exported it as an mxd file, which I've zipped and attached to this post. You may be able to import it with your MX-850 software.

ComcastXfinity.zip 3k .zip file

Good luck,

Scott

Scott, you are a LIFE SAVER! Thank you! It has been FOREVER (09 to be exact) since I programmed my old 850. I dreaded my recent departure from DIRECTV to Comcast just because I had to reprogram the remote. Your file saved my life!! Thank you!!!
