Looking to control dedicated theater with some lighting. Better to to go universal remote (mx890?) or Harmony Ultimate? Concerned about no rf in the ultimate versus difficulty of programming/dealing with URC. How effective are IR dimmers?

Yes, but can you control rf dimmers with it? I thought the rf in the ultimate only connected to the hub?

What universal remote can control other RF devices? What kind of lighting system are you talking about? The old harmony 890 could control z-wave devices. And the Ultimate can control Philips lights via wi-fi.

As i thought the ultimate is useless for rf. It only has rf to make ir better.

I'm not sure what you are expecting from an RF remote. No universal remote is going to be able to control 3rd party RF devices, it just doesn't work that way. The only exceptions are the few remotes that support Z-wave or IP controlled lighting such as the Hue.

I thought you could control rf dimmers with a universal remote that had rf capability.
