Having a real problem finding an EFC code for the Denon AVR-590 discrete input of SAT/CBL for a Comcast 1067 (silver w/Red OK button). I'm using the set up code 1360 on the remote.

The set up code only controlled volume features, and I did find the Power Toggle EFC to control on/off, but all the files I can find (JP1 look up), the codes do not work. They only change the "surround mode" to "video game".

I have tried the files for AVR-591, AVR-1611, AVR-1910 thinking they would be the same, but these do not work either.

Any help would be appreciated with the EFCs, or a file location where I can find them. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I bought all this "stuff" to enjoy it!

When looking for Denon codes, it's important to know that Denon uses two IR protocols (Denon and Kaseikyo, sometimes called Denon-K). We also have to take note of the the executor which was used, since a given OBC or function number may translate to different EFCs depending on which executor was used.

Audio 1360 (31360) uses an executor which we call Denon Combo (Official). Many of the JP1 upgrades use the Denon Combo executor, which unfortunately is different from the Official one. So the EFCs don't match.

Try this upgrade. It has Denon IR protocol signals, using the Official executor.

Hi 3FG,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Here's the (bizarre) issue, all the EFCs I found and tried for input selection behave strangely. i.e. using the upgrade file you attached, the EFC for "dbs/sat" (01833) always selects "V.AUX" input. However, if I immediately hit the number button "7", then the input switches to "SAT/CBL".

Most of the other EFC codes for input selection only activate the "rear speaker" command. I've never experienced codes acting like this before. I do note the protocols you mentioned, as the upgrade files I was using did use a different protocol, and once I changed it in RM, some of the codes worked.

So, I'm a bit lost on this one.....

So what happens if you press 7 without doing anything else? UEI frequently puts discrete input selectors on the digit buttons. I can find out tonight which IR signal pressing 7 sends.

If I press 7 without doing anything else, it will set the input to SAT/CBL (default for HDMI 3)......Interesting. As info it seems the digit buttons send the following commands:

1 - Sets surround mode to "Video Game" mode

2 - Surround Back Speaker command (PL IIz setting?)

3 - No command

4 - Sets surround mode to "Video Game" mode

5 - Sets input to "V.AUX"

6 - Sets input to "TV"

7 - Sets input to "SAT/CBL"

8 - Surround Back Speaker command (PL IIz setting?)

9 - Sets "Input mode" to "analog"

0 - Surround Back Speaker command (PL IIz setting?)

So, it looks like I can simply copy "7" to the input button, but again this was a bit bizarre! I would be interested in knowing what the command really is for the digit keys. Thanks for the help, though I feel foolish that I didn't try 7 alone first!
