Please recommend IR Remote

Here is my set up:

Study Room (Control Center)
1) BlueRay --> Should be able to switch to Family and Media Room
2) Receiver --> Only Family room
3) Satellite Cable --> Media and Family room
4) Roku Player --> Media and Family room

Family Room:
1) TV

Media Room
1) Projector
2) Receiver

I have hdmi wires prewired from study room (control center) to both family room and media room.

What kind of remote would work in this scenario? I want to be able to control satellite channels, blue ray and roku player.

Thanks

For the current models its Harmony Ultimate(with Hub).

The Hub and attached blasters can be in the Control Center and the Ultimate can be for IR only in the Line of Sight equipment in the Family Room and Media Rooms. You could also purchase extra mini-blasters for your Media and Control Rooms.

In the older model you can use the Harmony 900, which I use for a similar set up. The disadvantage of the 900 is that you can't do sequences.

The advantage of the Ultimate and 900 is that you can use IR & RF combined for different equipment.

Whatever you get, I strongly recommend one remote per room. Just because you can control everything with one remote doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Anything in a room you aren't in must be controlled by RF, not IR.

Thanks Insync44. The remote looks cool though it is expensive.

Yes, that's my idea too as it is difficult to use single remote for 2 rooms. Harmony seems to be good for the family room. Media room watching may be minimum, could you recommend something inexpensive for the media room?

I'm still not quite clear on the requirements for that room. Does it need to control the sources from the other room? How far away is the other room? Since you specified IR, were you planning to use some sort of repeater? Is RF or wifi out of the question, and if so, why?

I think I need RF remote not the IR remote.

Family room TV is around 50 feet away from control center whereas media room is upstairs, which may be around 60-70 feet away.
What is wifi option? It would be a great option if I can control the electronics through wifi.

Not much, may be around 300 for both the remote controls for Family Room and Media Room.

My RF remotes max out around 40 ft, so wifi may be your best best. Check out the the Harmony Ultimate//Touch/Smart or iRule.
