Hi,

I have a Sony KDF-42WE655 TV. I use the MX-500 and have a One for All 8811 that I've used to teach it discrete codes for changing my TV and receiver inputs without toggling.

I've found codes successfully for inputs 1-6, but not for input 7, which is the HDMI input. This hasn't been a problem before as I've used component for my HD cable box, but I just ordered an HD-DVD player and want to use HDMI for it.

I know an alternate possibility is to set the macro to go to input 6 and then toggle once, but I'd rather have the direct code if it's out there!

Does anyone know the discrete code for input 7? I can't find it on hi-fi-remote.com. I would really appreciate it.

Sony codes work across many models. Try using a code for a newer model which has a descrete code for vid7. I have a 42WE610 and the codes for brand new Sony tv's work for it. I just uploaded the codes for the new XBR5 to my MX-900 and video 1-7 work just fine.

Or you could try this: (it's for an 8820, but it might be worth a shot)

First, you need to set the TV setup code to 0810:
1. Press and release TV
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 0 8 1 0
The remote should blink twice. Now the TV device mode is set to 0810

Next, you can program discrete input video 1-9 to number keys 1-9. Starting with video 1 to number key 1:

1. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
2. Type 9 9 4
3. Press and release SETUP
4. Type 2 3 1 0 9
5. Press and release "1" key
The remote should blink twice if the programming worked. Test the "1" key on the URC-8820 with your TV. If it works, you can repeat for video 2-9 with the following codes for step 4 above and assign them to the numeric keys 2-9 on step 5:

Code:
discrete on 43333
discrete off 42309
video 1 23109
video 2 22085
video 3 22597
video 4 21829
video 5 55877
video 6 54853
video 7 20524
video 8 12075
video 9 12587
tv tuner 11077

Hope this helped.

I was looking on the general Sony TV list, and didn't find a code for input 7. If anyone knows it, I'd appreciate hearing what it is.

Eh, sorry -- for some reason only the first half of your message loaded for me.

I am pretty sure that 5 digit codes don't work on the 8811? All the codes I have are 3 digit.

Sorry bout that. Have you tried remotecentral.com ? They have a thread dedicated to OFA remotes, and a "descrete hunter" section.

You can not use the standard sony tv code to get video 7. Before the only way was with remote that accepted pronto hex, or to program your OFA remote by jp1. But now there is a preset code in the recent ofa models like 6820, 8820, 10820 and 6690 that give you access to the video 7.
