Question Logitech Z906 speaker for gaming and bluray players

I have to connect a Gaming PC (HTPC) and my bluray player to a LED TV with HDMI cables. So I'm thinking Logitech Z906 would be a good solution since it has multiple inputs.... 3.5 mm jack and optical input (I have HDMI to optical output decoder)......

Would it be a good idea? how's the sound quality of Z906 for bluray movies? I have a small living room with distance from couch to TV about 9 feet......

I've had mine for a while and they're great. For the price I think it's hard to beat. We use em for music/bluray/gaming in a 3.1 setup. Sound fills the room easily. Good clarity and balance and great detail when decoding DTS

Can you compare them to my buddy's Mystos STS? Of course not. Don't try. But I think they're significantly better than the Onkyo 7.1 system they replaced.

Logitech Z906 better than onkyo 7.1 system? Seriously? I was thinking to use the onkyo home theater package but nobody sells it locally. I have looked around.....

Yup. I can't remember the model but it was their top HTIB. Got it on Craigslist and used it for a few years. Sound was soft and bass was non-existent.

The Z906 bass is waaaaay better (I don't mean louder --which it is-- but more range) and the clarity and volume on the Z series is fantastic.

I picked my Z up off Craigslist for $225 a few years ago and haven't looked back! Do I want the Mythos? Yes. Badly. But the Z is absolutely unregrettable for the money.

To test speakers, I usually use Pearl Harbor (2001) bluray movie. I plugged the Optical cable from the TV to the Active speakers (I have sound science 2.1 speakers now). The sound is actually above average for that cheapo speakers (priced $120). I play the movie with DTS sound. The explosion sound comes out but it's about 50% from what I think should have been. So I need something clear with a better sub for movies like this.

Another option is to hookup the optical audio directly to the bluray source if possible (Z has 2 optical inputs)

I have 1 on TV (Sony A1E) and 1 for Bluray (Oppo-203). Blu-Ray sound is waaaaaay better and decodes properly. The TV doesn't decode DTS but the player does...

Spring for the Z - I think you'll love it
