Using a splitter to send audio to receiver and video to TV

I'm using an Onkyo 609, Xbox one, and Vizio smart TV (I don't remember exact model off hand but I doubt it matters)

My goal is to have 7.1audio output to the receiver and video direct to the TV. This gives me the best audio and the smallest lag for FPS games.

Can I go from the Xbox one to a splitter and send the splitter outputs to the receiver and the TV simultaneously? Has anyone done this?

Is there an HDMI in on my receiver that would have reduced audio lag?

You can with a product like this HDMI splitter than can do a pass-through and an audio channel: http://www.outlawaudio.com/outlet/HDS_12.html but it is the only one I know of that will allow lossless. There is also the Audio Return Cable (ARC) If your Onkyo has one use that. You can also do Optical Out to the receiver and HDMI video out to the screen .
