Looking to rent a game for tonight that can be played in cooperative mode (E.g. tow players playing on the same team at the same time)

I have HALO and enjoy the split screen coop mode.

Any other recommendations?

I made a post on another forum asking the same thing, Rat, and got a lot of suggestions (I was just asking for FPS on the Xbox, though).
Of the games that were suggested to me, by far the best was Timesplitters 2. Great co-op play. Some games let you play split-screen co-op, but don't take advantage of the fact that there are two of you playing. It's just like the single version of the game. But Timesplitters 2 sneaks in some cool additions just for two player. For instance, in one level there is a mounted remote control machine gun. The control and camera for the machine gun are in another room some distance away. Playing by yourself, your use of the remote controled gun is very limited. But in two player, one guy can stay behind in the control room while the other guy goes ahead to the room with the machine gun. The second guy is swarmed by zombies, and it's easy to get killed by them. But the first guy back in the control room can take them all out real easy with the machine gun before they can even get to the second player. That's the kind of two player gameplay I really dig.

Another good one is Hunter. Top down view and players share the same screen, so no loss of detail or visuals when more than one person plays, which is nice.

The splitscreen co-op FPS I'm REALLY looking forward to, though, is Men of Valor: Vietnam. Dumb ass title but it looks like it's going to be an awesome co-op FPS with 720p, among other things. AND you can save two player games in the middle of a level, something NO other game offers. (I got really frustrated with Halo because you could never save in the co-op game. Kind of ruined it for me.)

Last but not least - the last Lord of the Rings game, can't remember what it's called, is supposed to have awesome two player co-op. I haven't actually played it though.

People of California! The moment will soon be here when you will ALL be sorry for what you have done to me! Your time of reckoning is growing near. Your cities will lie in smoldering ruins, your women will be ravished. Your men will cry bitter tears. You will ALL feel my wrath.
Yeah, that's...

Best Co-op game of all-time: Contra
You'll probably have a hard time finding the NES version,
but if you have a PS2 there's Contra: Shattered Soilder.
Another good co-op game with similar gameplay is Metal Slug.
Metal Slug 3 is coming out for Xbox in May 2004.
If you're into classic-style shooters, IKARUGA for the GameCube
is a vertical shooter with 2-player simulataneous.

Personally I like co-op games that aren't split-screen, and in order
for most games to not be split-screen they can't be 3D.
That's why all of the games I've mentioned are 2D games.

My current entertainment setup:
Toshiba 14" TV, Pioneer Elite VSX-55TXi A/V Receiver, Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft Xbox 360

If you have all the proper equipment for it(Gamecube, GBA's, link cables, etc.) Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is a great co op game. My friends and I have a blast with it :)

Baldur's Gate and Fallout are both pretty fun co-op RPG games. They have quite a few similarities.

There's two Hunter games you can play with 4 people that are also quite good. These are less complicated RPGs.

Strangely enough the son and I had a blast with Lord of the Rings " Return of the King" No split screen and it gets pretty intense later on in levels.

I hate split screen though.

I also Recommend Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. Haven't played the new one yet. D&D Heroes for XBox is pretty good too.

For the PC, Serious Sam co-op is a blast.

I'd have to say my all time favorite co-op game would be Myth II: Soulblighter for the PC. Wonderful game.

Kind of in a different genra than most suggestions but Kung-Fu Chaos is a ton of fun for multi-player either coop or head to head. You can have up to four players (not coop though) which is even better. Only downside is that you can only unlock new levels by playing single player version and most of the really fun (and hillarious) levels and characters are near the end.

I too love Kung Fu chaos but it has a major drawback for me - no 480p. Since I run my Xbox through the VGA input on my projector, Kung Fu chaos is unplayable on my setup. It sucks because I played it on my old TV and loved it.

I forgot about Deathrow. I loved the single player game but never had a chance to play multiplayer.

How about the new 007 everything or nothing? It has coop missions that are different than the single player ones.

I played the new 007 co-op mode with a friend of mine the other night - I thought it was GREAT. My only beef with it is the fact that you can't seem to each have your own custom controller options. (like pitch inversion - I like my pitch inverted, he doesn't)

Didn't play through too far - my friend wasn't wild about the aiming system and was getting frustrated. I've gotten used to it since I'm close to finishing the game, but he prefers traditional FPS aiming systems where you can shoot wherever you want.

We played through to disarming the bombs - got about 5 of them I think. I'll have to let him borrow it to play the one-player mode through and get used to the aiming - because I really liked the co-op.

"he prefers traditional FPS aiming systems where you can shoot wherever you want. "

Same here. I tried the new 007 at some department store and the aiming - or should I say LACK of aiming - drove me crazy. I need to be able to direct the crosshair by myself and auto-aiming that can't be turned off ruins a game for me.

Wolfenstein is awful for co-op because of that stealth level!! My friend and I spent an hour trying to pass it and couldn't figure out why we couldn't. I played it by myself and got through the first time. Must be a bug. And it had a totally forgettable ending and final few levels because every once in a while when think back on games I need to beat I think "gotta do Wolfenstein" and then I say "****, I DID beat that game."

The new 007 game does have a lot of cool co-op modes. I haven't been able to try them out yet with a friend, but they look really cool. A plus is that on a widescreen TV, the screen is split vertically, so you get lots of room to work with if you have a big TV.

lemme give a vote for Pac-Man VS; it's both co-op and competitive. very simple idea/design, but damn if it aint a blast to play. of course, its best with 4 people at least. you'll need a GBA, too, though.

Without a doubt. RTCW has great atmosphere via sound effects, and mood lighting. I've gotten quite a few people addicted to that game. Once they start playing it, they can't put it down.
