I READ ON ANOTHER POST THAT EA HAS SIGNED AN EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT W/ THE NFL FOR VIDEO GAME RIGHTS. EVERYONE IS RAGGING ON EA FOR THIS, AND RIGHTFULLY SO. I DON'T LIKE IT EITHER BUT I CAN'T BLAME EA. I PUT THE BLAME ON THE NFL. WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS. THE ANSWER APPEARS SIMPLE, $$. IT'S TOO BAD THEY'RE GOING TO HANDCUFF VIDEO GAME MAKERS THIS WAY. W/ NO COMPETITION WHY WOULD EA BE IN ANY HURRY TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS EACH YEAR.

ANY THOUGHTS?

The NFL definitely needs a butt-whupping over this deal, as badly as anyone. For the price of nosebleed seats and a watery beer in a twelve-ounce plastic cup you could buy a nice economy car. Yup, that's America's NFL.

Still, EA has been making overtures for exclusivity for years. And rumor has it that they approached the NBA about a similar deal (though, luckily, they got shot down). I don't see any reason to cut either organization any slack.

I hate them both. ;)

I don't believe the NFL was the driving force for the exclusive deal. I think they just provided cover for EA.

I heard the NFL put out an invite to bid for the exclusive rights, EA must have made them a good offer. I think that college league games will be the ones to play now. I don't play sports games so it's a lot easier to steer clear of EA for me.
