Pros Cons
  • Great build quality and sound
  • Outdated by today's standards
I've had this receiver for over 11 years and it's still working perfectly. I purchased it directly from Harman Kardon and have loved using it over the years. Some complain about its lack of power or its inability to handle anything more than 5.1 sound, but I find both arguments invalid. The sound that is produced is rich and has a lot of power behind it. I have never lacked for volume when using this unit. It was advertised as a 5.1 system, so I'm not sure where anyone got the idea it was anything but. Maybe they were misled by a third party seller?

I still plan to continue to use this unit, but its lack of HDMI and 3D capability has gotten it demoted from the Media Room to the family room. I plan to purchase an HK AVR 3650 for my media room in the next few days. Hopefully my experience with that will be as good as my experience with the AVR 320.

If you happen to run across this unit for a low price, I highly recommend it, assuming your not looking for HDMI and 3D support.

This unit is capable of 7.1 output. i have an old pro logic receiver that i use to power the extra 2 speakers on the 7.1 setup. i then use the 7.1 analog inputs to have my blu ray player decode the newer DTS-HD and TrueHD 7.1 formats. This receiver still lives in my home theater. I have yet to find a reason to remove it.
