Smooth Fast Disc Tray and Startup, Upgrades Video From AT&T u-Verse Set Top Box As Well
None So Far
This is my best Oppo Blu-ray player yet. I have previously owned the BDP-83, Bdp-93 and now have the Oppo BDP-103. This is the best one out of pack for me. Not only is the audio and video quality awesome for blu-ray and DVD playback but the speed of playback along with the ability to use the 2nd HDMI input in the rear to feed my AT&T u-Verse through the Oppo player gaining the benefit of the excellent video processing of the BDP103 puts it in a league by itself. There is a noticeable improvement in the picture from the AT&T set top box when it gets processed through the BDP-103. I have a friend who uses DISH TV through his BDP-103 with the same result that I have with my AT&T set top box. In addition the BDP103 will pass 4K video to your display if you have one. Presently I do not so I cannot comment on 4K performance but having the ability to process 4K future proofs this player for me as I see 4K video at some point being in the mix. I am not a fan of 3D but 4K will happen at some point when I replace my current projector. In addition to a long list of streaming services the Oppo BDP-103 adds Cinema Now to its lineup. The BDP-93 did not have Cinema Now as an option and since I have purchased some movies on Cinema Now it is great to be able to play them back in my Home Theater on my blu-ray player.
In addition to its terrific performance the Oppo tech support has been the best in the business. Although I have not had to use them for this BDP-103 but I have had to call them for the previous players that I owned and they have always provided prompt professional service and handled my issues until they were corrected. If there is one minor quibble that I have with this player it would be that I would like to see a direct input button on their remote so you could select the rear HDMI input directly instead of having scroll though the inputs using the OSD menu. The player defaults to the blu-ray input when turned on and you have to scroll to get it set to the rear HDMI input when you want to access your additional video source.
I have owned this player since December 2012 and have found nothing to complain about. Highly recommend this Oppo player.
