The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is another low grade, poorly made, cash-in. As an attempt to cash-in on the popularity of the show this first person shooter was made and tells the story of Daryl and Merle Dixon before the events of the show take place. These are show only characters so lack and back story the comic would provide for others.
This is a truly awful game. Other than the actors providing voices there's nothing good to be said about it. The graphics are terrible and buggy. The gameplay is about as generic as you can get but with poor mechcanics bringing it down to awful. Walkers pose no threat because even in big piles you can defeat them all through quicktime event. The game is a technical mess and runs poorly no matter if you're on 360, PS3 or PC. It's only 3-4 hours long with no replay value. There's other survivors to find along the way but they don't add anything to the game. You can send them out for supplies and hope they fend for themselves but it truly has no impact on the game. It also ends very abruptly with no particular closure or proper ending.
Regardless of if you're a fan of the show, comic, zombies in general or all of the above there's nothing good to be found here. I'm unfortuantely forced to give it a half star but it truly deserves 0.
