As a follow-up, I've flipped back and forth between Force Awakens on cable 720p and blu-ray 1080p, on a 52 inch Soncy outside what is deemed the 1080p worth it viewing distance by rtings.com, and the blu-ray looks significantly better in closeups, mid-range, and long-range shots. The image is more vivid with far greater detail and contrast and totally pops.

    Hey Man:

I saw your posts on screen size and viewing distance. You seem to have a good grasp on this. Do you use any charts/numbers other than the ones provided by rtings.com?

Also, I can notice 1080P blu-ray is significantly superior than 720P on cable from outside the viewing range. I'm not saying significantly outside, but still outside. But, according to the chart, this shouldn't be the case. Isn't some of this kind of debatable?

Anyway, we're getting a 65 inch tv. According to the chart, Blu-ray is worth it if i I'm sitting between roughly 8.5 and 13 feet. Is that correct? Thanks for your help.

    Erik
