Ok, I got my new 50st30 in today and have been playing around with it for a few hours.
My non-professional opinion is as follows:
I like the picture slightly more than the GT25 which this is replacing. The picture seems more "real." I loved the GT25 picture, but the colors were a bit too saturated, and flesh tones were a bit too red (in THX). I find flesh tones more realistic on the ST30.
The television is also more quiet than the GT25. Dithering seems to be the same as the GT25.
My only issue right now, and it's a major issue, is with Viera Connect's Netflix. Whenever I play a movie, the sound stutters and runs over itself. It's almost as if the sound were being played by a record player, and the needle was dragging on the record. It's as if the computer's audio filter cannot keep up with the streaming media. The video looks fine, however. I have this issue via ethernet and wireless.
Otherwise Viera CONNECT is MUCH better than Viera CAST. There are downloadable apps, and many many more streaming options, including Cinema Now and Ustream.
My GT25 and Panasonic Blu-ray player do not suffer this internet problem.
I don't know if I should return the television (making it two tvs this week), keep my GT25 and return the ST30, or throw caution to the wind and try to get another ST30.
This t.v. was bought on Amazon and shipped via pilot. Some of the Styrofoam was broken, and it was delivered by a single person. I'm wondering if the t.v. was beaten up on it's way to my place.
So, that's my review.
Thanks.
UPDATE:
I do not have the audio stuttering issue with Amazon Streaming Video.
Another issue I have with the ST30, is that the 3D glasses will not keep sync. They work for about 30 seconds, and then lose sync. The glasses work fine on my GT25.
However, if this unit performed as it should, I'd love it. The 3D appears better then the GT25, the dithering seems to be slightly less, and the colors/shading is better.
I have since re-boxed the ST30 and am going to call Amazon tomorrow. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep my GT25 or try to replace it with another ST30. If I go with another ST30, I will lose my GT25 forever, as it is no longer available on Amazon for the great price I got it for (the ST30 is actually cheaper now).
Best of luck to all who purchase!
