Let's get this started...

Leaked Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Information
Quote:
Game Modes

Escort, a new game mode similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed. The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only.

Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return

Team Defender and Infected will not return

Pointstreaks

Will follow from Modern Warfare 3's system

Larger emphasis on objectives

A bomb plant is worth 2 points

A neutral flag is worth 1, however an enemy flag is worth 2

flag assist capture is worth 1, a capture is worth 2

The Specialist Pointstreak has be modified. 2 kills now gets you 1 perk. The 4th kill gets you 2 more perks. The 6th kill gets you 3 more perks. The 8th Kill gets you 4 more perks. You do not get every perk when you reach 8 kills. Perks only become "Pro" when you have them Pro

RC XD will not return

Heat vision is a new Pointstreak reward. When you get the required points, you can activate this Pointstreak and your player pulls out a scope and attaches it to your weapon. This scopes main advantage is it's ability to detect enemies through most walls. Note, the scope can only be attached to primaries not including shotguns

Item Packages requires 5 points. Fall along side care packages and air drop traps. Features a list of package items only including ammo, mini gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, and body armor

Prestiges

There will be 15 prestiges

There will be 50 ranks

Every two prestiges there is a 5 rank increase

The final prestige has 90 levels

There will be a specific lobby for clan matches (new way of leveling clans)

Clan Tournaments can now be implemented

Map Design

Map design and size will be following Black Ops not Modern Warfare 3

Less sway

Customization

No longer just perk 1 chooses the players appearance

Appearance is a combination of all perks and type of Pointstreak being used.

Hardcore

Larger emphasis on hardcore than ever before

No grenade launchers

Only vehicle guided rocket launchers permitted

Respawn timings decreased (for most modes)

1 bullet in the foot will no longer kill a person, a head or chest shot is usually required.

A person will now bleed out if severely injured.

Perk System 2.0

The Perk Pro system has been upgraded

There is now 2 options a perk can advance to.

Both require different challenges to unlock

Once the desired Pro version is unlocked, the player can select that as their "Perk Pro".

Once selected, the only way to choose the other option is by entering prestige mode.

For example Perk slot 1 has the perk called Speed

Speed - Reduces the time taken to aim down the sight. Pro I - Swaps weapons faster. Pro II - Throws equipment faster

Combat Training

Will be returning with vast improvements.

Difficulty is no longer based on how long the bots take to start shooting.

Bots now have an advance AI system

Similar to the behavior seen in the MW3 Spec Ops survival

There is not one thing on that list that sounds good. A sniper that shoots through walls? Really? Like they're not bad enough now? I say give us a game with NO snipers.

This may be the first CoD that earns a giant pass from me. And yes, I'm judging already but I may change my mind at any moment.

BB, once you get BF3 in your system you'll be saying "CoD what?"

I predicted a long time ago that because Treyarch was not allowed to produce Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, they would eventually develop Call of Duty: Future Warfare. What I didnt predict was Black Ops. And the very fun "throwback" game it would become. Black Ops was popular, because the weapons were still up to date and didnt have WWII, been there done that feeling.

With the popularity of shows like Future Weapons on Military Channel.. there are plenty of awesome "real world" ideas out there for them to use. I just hope they dont overdo it and go all Halo on the series. Reality is.. as long as they keep the COD gameplay & mechanics.. you could make Call of Duty: Medieval Warfare.. that uses swords, arrows & crossbows. And it would be an insanely popular title!

Well let me be the first to say it, since this seems to have blown over everyone's head here....

WELCOME BACK DAEKWAN!!!!! you have been missed.

Its twuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!! Its twuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!

I doubt it.

I don't think BB is going to like BF3. I may be wrong but I am going to call it now with it being a no.

We’re in for a visual overhaul.

Dan Bunting, Treyarch’s Director of Online, showed some of the graphical upgrades Treyarch has been working on – what he called a mix of “tech and technique.” He walked us through an unpopulated level on Socotra Island in Yemen that showed off HDR lighting, bounce lighting, and self-shadowing (“Lighting is what does most of the work when it comes to visual fidelity,” says Bunting) as well as a new texture technique called reveal mapping. I don’t know what it does — all I know is I saw beautiful, detailed sand that looked like it had haphazardly fallen between the cobblestones on the street. When “the old way” of texturing and “the new way” were shown side by side, the differences were undeniable. Some of the improvement is more practical than technical; on a future LA level called Aftermath, Dan pointed out that there were lots of unique environments within the level — a coffee shop, a hotel lobby — designed so players could easily call out their locations to teammates without having to struggle for a description. And yes…it’s all still running at 60 frames per second. Dan said the team was not willing to sacrifice frame rate for visual detail. The build he was showing was on an Xbox 360, but it’s worth noting that Mark Lamia mentioned that the PC version will take advantage of DX11 cards.

The poster -- ehhh.

The other items well until we know what they are who can judge.

Greg

Eh, for me it is a good incentive. I went ahead and pre-ordered it........but I haven't gotten an email or anything that has a token code for the Prestige Token, so I don't know what Gamestop is doing, but this isn't working right.

Scope that lets you see through walls

Wrist mounted grenade launcher

Wrist gadget that knocks people down with a blast of air

And that's the stuff from people who actually seen it!

4 more months.

This is only SP, they did not see the MP side of the game. So there is no guarantee that any of this is in the MP.

Agreed. MW3 had the 9 bangers in SP, but not MP.

Still, it's an indication of the level of crazy we should expect.

Not ruling anything out for sure! Just keeping the Imodium nearby for the inevitable sh*tstorm that is sure to fire up.

If you want a sh*tstorm, try out this delicious quote from the same article you linked.

"Multiplayer is no longer a one-size-fits-all solution."

Yes, there will be multiplayer, but no, they're not talking much about it yet, and no gameplay was shown. But game design director David Vonderhaar did offer a few cryptic clues: "Multiplayer is no longer a one-size-fits-all solution. We've stripped the game back a lot and started from a very core place" with a goal of supporting the broadest range of players and play styles. Sounds like changes of some sort are coming -- and I know a lot of people have told me, in agitated and detail-free feedback, that they feel MP needs to change -- so have fun trying to figure out what that means until we get some solid info. For Black Ops and MW3, they didn't offer solid details until September, so it could very well be a long summer.

Now I'm worried. They had better not fix what wasn't broken.

Anyone notice on the side of his pistol (and I think the rifles too) in the trailer there's a QR code? Tried to scan it myself but the resolution just isn't high enough. I bet this ties into MP customization somehow...

As long as they aren't catering strictly to the azzwipes.

Jesus, you guys are worry warts.

I remember when they showed the first screen shots for Call of Duty 4 MODERN WARFARE and everyone flipped their ****! People were freaking out about them leaving the ww2 setting, calling it counter strike of duty and call of duty: counter strike. Everyone thought IW had lost their minds and the hardcore cod2 guys (at this point still overwhelmingly PC) were organizing boycotts and petitions.

Seriously, 3arc did a fine job with black ops and I'm sure they'll do a fine job here. They've at LEAST bought the benefit of the doubt after:

Nerfing quick scoping

Banishing death streaks

Toning down the the power and frequency of killstreaks

Fixing explosives (some of us might argue they over fixed this one but I for one will take it over the alternative)

Adding the dolphin dive-- which is ****ing awesome, btw

and designing some killer maps to play on!

^ Almost all of these good decisions were flatly reversed by IW for MW3.

If you're making comments along the lines of CoD is dead or instantly writing this off JUST because of the setting than you need to chill the **** out and realize that it's only another YEAR AND A HALF until the next modern warfare game! Lol!

Kill streaks were still pretty powerful IMO, if you stack dogs on a CG you can bet on some rage quiting. Def agree on the rest and also loved the dolly cam option in theater mode which was also absent from MW3.

Biggest issues for me are issues that have at one point or continuously plagued both blops and MW3 and that is hit detection, lag comp, and spawning. If those things can be handled I'll be happy.

sage - I saw you poking around in the plasma forums, you getting one of those new 65VT50's or what?

I thought the kill streaks were still over the top in blops too...the constant stacking of sr-71s, choppers and dogs was ridiculous. Rc-xds were guaranteed free kills, napalm runs for only 5 kills spread hot death that stuck around or 30 seconds, and hardline pro got you super high streaks out of CPs pretty often. It was better than MW2, but that's not saying much.

Aside from the constant stealth bombers, which was just a total **** up, MW3 is way toned down. I still want to see a revised system in blops 2 that can incorporate streak points for stuff other than kills, and non-resetting streaks upon deaths. It doesn't have to be exactly like assault/support/specialist, but they're on the right track. I once envisioned a street fighter-esqe power bar that forced you to choose between fewer, more powerful streaks or multiple less powerful ones, cause the high level stacking is kinda ridiculous IMO. Hopefully that's one of the "sacred cows" they say they're killing.

But I wouldn't hold my breath for any substantial improvements in lag/HD.

I'll give them the 5 for the preorder goodies for prob 75% chance i'll just cancel it and get it through amazon

I agree with the lag comp issues. But killstreaks-- I don't know... Ghost pro plus strella solved the air support, dogs were easy to kill. Really the only thing super powerful was the sr71. My solution: AUG plus extended mags and let them come get some! 8)

As for the plasma-- I wish! Lol! Still, I really can't complain as I picked up a 50" S30 a couple months back due to the ridiculous close out price. I actually really like it! I thought it would be a skimp out model but the PQ is surprisingly good and it's an awesome gaming display! Had my eye on the ST50 but it's really not in the budget right now... Ask me again in a couple of weeks!

Seems pretty well substantiated. Even if you don't believe the screenshot, the CVG interview video shows the same things just as clear, and its authenticity absolutely can't be questioned.

The most interesting thing to me is the killstreak selector in the bottom right. You've got 4 choices, all of which seem to be greyed out. You've got a progress bar that doesn't seem clearly notched like mw3, so it probably isn't just raw kills/points. You've got 4 lines, which probably correspond to the level of power you need before you can activate each individual streak. It'd be reading into it a bit to unequivocally declare that they're definitely using the street fighter-esqe power bar where you decide between many weak or few powerful streaks....but this certainly doesn't rule it out. For one thing, the semicircle that the power bar can fill up seems to extend way past the 4 lines, which leads me to believe you can bank a lot of power, and using a streak eats away at your bar up to the line of the streak you chose. Also, the lines are in different positions in the MP screenshot vs interview screenshot, but it looks like the same streaks...so maybe some perk or other factor such as whether you're winning or losing, or how many streaks you've already used, etc, may be influencing how often you can use them....which makes it even less likely it's based on a raw number of kills/points. Its not even that the lines have moved up, but the proportions b/w them have changed, so Hardline reducing by one point doesn't explain it. Really psyched if this means what I think it does.

The gun is clearly an MP7 than looks just like MW3...with some sort of under barrel attachment? In the video one of the guys is clearly firing a SCAR, which looks ripped right out of MW2/3 down to the reload animation. Both are probably just placeholders.

Also of note:

TDM and Domination are back (big surprise there).

Selectable classes are still in...when he pauses the game you can barely make out "change class"...another shocker, I know.

There's a timer and streak icon next to the map, bet that's shows time left on a UAV/streak. Perhaps its actually the enemy team's streak, since if its your UAV, you'd prob see more than two enemy red dots. Either way, a solid common sense addition.

Assault shield....meaning riot shield??? Its taking up the whole left half of the screen, and is 100% ripped out of the CVG video, so it's legit...maybe of note is that it doesn't say X to swap for shield, so it might not be a selectable weapon, but something environmental or temporary like a stationary turret.

This HAS to be legit. Generally, nothing looks radically changed, still looks like cod.

Cod on consoles isn't pretty to begin with to keep the 60fps on outdated console hardware, then you throw 3d into the mix and the game just takes huge decrease in graphics. That's pretty much same for all console games in 3d since ps3 or xbox is having to render everything twice.... so ready for 720 and ps4....

Maybe a hint at female characters? She is holding a skull so a hint at some game type where you have to collect skulls?

I'm guessing that's zombies.

It makes sense that we'll recognize most of the weaponry despite this game taking place in 2025. I mean, the m16 has been in use for how long? Not to mention the Kalashnikov or the m14! I am a little disappointed by the appearance of the XM8, though. Gun was used to death in bf2 and the platform itself is all but dead-- we'd have a greater chance of seeing the G11 than the xm8!

Speaking of the G11, 3arc better be prepping a new 3 round burst gun and it had better be awesome-- France's recent retirement of the famas all but guarantees that it WON'T be making a return in a game that takes place in 2025 (thinking the mw2 version here).
