No, your LCD panels are bad, or the DLP chip is bad. Changing the bulb won't do anything. Use it until you can't put up with it any more, than get a new projector, it's not worth repairing.

Generally my rule of thumb is, anything over 25' should use an HDMI via CAT5 Rx/Tx unit. Trying to passively run 1080p via a 50' cable is a really bad idea and most likely won't work.

My guess is that they were dirt cheap too, correct? Those ones don't pay the HDCP licensing fees, so like a bootleg satellite signal, it may work now, but not for long. Get an HDFury and you're good.

The DC board has nothing to do with the black levels. Try reseating the RGB board, or perhaps there's a failure on it? Are the internal patterns washed out too, or just the input signal?
