While searching your menu, look for "Dolby Pro Logic II" as that will take a two channel signal and convert it to 5.1. (DPLII)

Connect using just the speaker wire, not combined with the RCA low level input. Woofers facing outwards away from wall, and tell the receiver to set them to small with the crossover set to 80 Hz.

Just make sure you use the right gauge of wire for the speaker runs, and make sure the wire is CL radio rated.

I use Monoprice in wall 12 gauge wire. I also used the extra wire to make a few cables of my own. You should try it, as it gives a sense of accomplishment, and you can keep them handy for comparison.
