I tried the BJC first, but still had problems. Then I got the Monoprice cable and that did the trick. They are inexpensive. Give one a try.

HDMI cables are friction fit, so the slightest movement can cause some problems, usually video. Make sure that they are seated properly and that there isn't any tension on them.

Dynamic EQ on for movies only. I listen more to multi channel music (DVD-A and SACD). I suppose that it could be fine to have on for 2 channel.

Hit the info button and it'll display the disc info for a few seconds and then the screen will black again. Handy feature for music.

That opening is really at a high level. My VTF15H made some unholy sounds. Thought I may have damaged it, but fortunately didn't. I'll be keeping the volume down till after that part in the future.
