what speakers to add to standard 5.1 set up

I just upgraded to a yamaha RX-a3040 receiver and i currently only run 5.1...but i am looking to add some speakers. Is the next step to upgrade to some front height speakers? i don't have any room...

I owned some Yamaha separates way back in the olden days, but never in modern HT era...so the RX-A3040 intrigues me and it at the very top...

I am replacing my Marantz SR-6004 please help me choose.

I have some swan 6.1's and a new 4k TV, so i want to upgrade both technology and more important power. I think the 6004 was slightly underpowering the speakers.

i do not plan on doing a 4k player...
