Yes I'm with you on the divorce front being more expensive than a projector. :D Having said that if I hadn't got a divorce myself a long time ago I might not be in the much more HC friendly house I'm...

Well, I did say that some would vilify me, but I stand by my previous comments. I sometimes think the differences can be overstated, especially by those who've already spent the money upgrading.

As a Mini3D and Darbee owner along with a JVC X35 I can understand where you're coming from. While my X35 was a step up from my old HD350 I'm not sure it would have been so noticeable if I'd been...

Over on the UK forum I mostly post on I've been fairly vocal about my opinions on how valuable a good calibration can be, consequently I then get PMs asking me to come and do this for forum members....

A lot of mention regarding the Sony's higher ANSI contrast (which I agree with having seen it in a very good room), however it's worth highlighting that unless the room is a suitably decorated black...

Comparing a 5 year old HD750 to a new '55 isn't a fair comparison IMHO. I had the similar HD350 and now have an X35 (RS46). It is much brighter and the lamp hasn't dimmed anything like as quickly as...

Yes, I used to use the shrink method myself before getting my A lens, but the cost of a 4K Lumagen would be hard to swallow just for that feature (given the other points I made previously which make...

It would also depend on how linear the colour gamut response is on a new laser projector: It's one of the arguments for using the multipoint CMS in the existing models (even my modest Mini3D has 125...

I read it like you're using a colourimeter (or maybe a spectrometer) to measure the fL directly. I have an i1D3 Pro and find similar, so instead I go on the lux measurement (at the screen, meter...

It's an interesting thread Steve, you do have to wonder if we get to a point where the improvements becomes infinitesimal that there becomes little point in 'upgrading' unless of component failure....

I feel the same about my Isco II lens...it just adds something I like. Maybe it's the lack of projected black bars or the higher pixel density, higher contrast due to using the projector's minimum...

Well Sony have dropped the DI, the manual iris and the autocalibration feature to bring out the VW300ES. JVC of course had to go one better so they just dropped the whole projector. :D

Are you sure? I didn't think that the lamp changed last year with the X500/700 models over the X35/RS46. Certainly the newer lamp in the X35 was a significant improvement over the previous X30/RS45...
