Stillbruch, if your display's black level is relatively bad, BT.1886 can make the image look somewhat more "washed out". On the positive side, you gain a ton of extra shadow detail which most likely...

It's a bad thing that we have partial HDMI 2.0 implementations today. But that would still be somewhat acceptable if it were communicated properly. The key problem is that all manufacturers just...

What??

That's news to me. Very disappointing. It's really time we got some interface which can be software upgraded to include new features. Ok, higher bandwidth probably can't be achieved by a...

Yes, I definitely never recommend to completely turn off dithering in madVR/madTPG. IIRC, madTPG even ignores it if you tell it to do that. If the calibration software doesn't want dithering, it just...

RGB is the recommend output, with 0-255 levels. You may have to use the madLevelsTweaker to make that work with NVidia GPUs, if you use your GPU's HDMI output. If you configure the GPU to output...

I don't know how the Lumagen does dithering. Dithering is supposed to be different *per pixel* in such a way that it averages to the correct value if you look at multiple neighboring pixels. When...

3D support is going to come sooner or later (not too soon, though). A licensed player with madVR support could be possible for *unprotected* Blu-Rays, but it's unlikely for protected Blu-Rays.

Interesting! Looking at the graph it seems that madVR overall does better than the eeColor box. However, it seems that around 1.5 dE2000 and above the eeColor has less errors than madVR? It's hard to...

Could you please attach both the 64 and 65 LUT to the madVR bug tracker (in case you haven't yet)? Then I have all the information I need right there.

The madVR 3dlut format is totally different,...

I'm not sure what those formats are. The only format madVR accepts is the one created by LightSpace CMS and ArgyllCMS for the eeColor 3dlut box. And the 3dlut also has to be for video levels...

Yep, madVR currently only accepts 65 point 3dluts. I guess adding support for 64 point 3dluts shouldn't be too hard to do. Maybe you could add it to the madVR tracker, so I can look at it when I find...

If you set both madVR + NVidia GPU to 16-235, you'll get incorrect results (double expansion). You need to set either the NVidia GPU or madVR to 16-235, the other one to 0-255. The reason for that is...

FWIW, as a developer I'm torn between NVidia and AMD. Both have their problems and their advantages. E.g. AMD supports OpenCL 1.2, NVidia does not. But then NVidia's custom non-1.2-interop actually...

A pure direct mode is not really possible because HTPCs "think" in RGB, not YCbCr. That's not really a problem, though, because madVR's chroma upscaling, color conversion and dithering is top...

Maybe those prompts are from the OS, asking you for security (anti-virus etc) reasons? If so, there's usually a checkbox you can check or uncheck to tell the OS to shut up about it in the future.

BT.1886 is not "destructive" at all. I'd interpret "destructive" to mean losing image information. With today's flat panels (which have rather bad black levels) using a pure power curve for...
