I can control the light if I desired to. However, I do mainly nighttime viewing so it is not an issue.
I run mine in eco mode and turn down the brightness even with ambient light.

You are correct. In room, 15 Hz is child's play and comes with ease. I high pass mine at ~13Hz and still have all I can use at that frequency.
