You really should have surge protection installed at the electrical fuse box. A Panamax (or any other individual surge protector brand) won't protect against lightning.

I honestly think they do use real speaker names (I doubt they are worried about lawsuits). But they probably don't replace the insides, but rather stick the nameplate on junky speakers.

Yes, it's a real speaker brand. But so are other "white van" speakers. (They can replace the insides with cheap parts.) IMO, I would never buy speakers without hearing them in any case.
