Overall, the Sierra-1 is a better speaker, not quite as forward sounding as the 340SE, has digs deeper, solid imaging, takes more power to hit the same volume level, and has better WAF.

I think you'll both be very happy with the Sierra 1's. I'd add a subwoofer for the low end though. A 12" Rythmik would fit the bill nicely and Ascend also carries them.

I'm confused. There is a permanent solution. Bump it up in the setup menu and you are done.

BTW...after you do that, you can still use the trim option to adjust, but it will then always go back...
