Onkyo seem to run quite a lot hotter than Yamaha and perhaps that contributes to more Onkyo failures.
Yamaha seems to be the most reliable brand, that why I bought an RX-A3000.

Before you do that, just make sure there are no remote controls/repeaters pointing at the Onkyo and sending spurious signals......

Some combinations are just not possible even though they should be.
