I'm with you on this. A number of tech savvy reviewers who were skeptical on principle before reviewing the unit changed their tune after reviewing. And there are calibrators who do like and use...

dsinger is correct. A little further research supports his statement that the Darbee unit is 2k in and out. The reviewer was apparently upscaling the Darblet enhanced signal as dsinger suggested.

I can't speak to that, but the reviewer says he used the Darbee DVP 5000 with a Sony 4K Projector.

I can't imagine that he'd write a review incorporating that fact in an AV Magazine if it weren't...

Ground up Unicorn horn would never be used in display technology, as it's incredibly difficult to handle, has longevity issues (I'd be surprised if you'd get 5000 hours out of it), and is for all...

Black Dots

I would call Mitsubishi and see if they will give you either a new optical engine, or a new DMD chip. If they agree, they will most likely give you the DMD chip. Or, they may give you the chip at a...

Cedia

The Orion Cinemascope looks great in the video (though I wouldn't mind 4k :D), as do the other devices.

Anyone that isn't excited by Barco's return to rear projection hasn't considered Barco's...

Where are you Mark?

Mark. As this thread, which you initiated, is so interesting, your absence takes all the steam out if it!

The pictures of the device are alluring.

I do know that the color wheel is necessitated by the one chip DLP, as you do not have have separate RGB emitters. I was wondering about comparative quality not considering the rainbow effect. (How...

Barco Rear Projection

I think it is a fascinating product idea, as I prefer the image of projection television to any flat-panel I've seen, except for OLED, and the latter is impractical with regard to larger screen sizes...

Overscan

There are video signal processors, like the Lumagen models (and some others) that can do what you want with little or no risk at all. I've never used one on my Mitsubishi 65 inch, but there are...

Ceilings

The Digitaltrends review was useful and honest, but most intriguing for me was how it worked with a less than ideal ceiling. My living room, as in a lot of older buildings in LA, is gently vaulted. ...

I'm not so sure that's true. The original YSP 1 from a few years ago worked in a 40 x 40 foot room according to Yamaha. That model had more drivers, but the smaller number of drivers in the 4300...

As I said before, Foxbat121, I think curved displays in smaller screen sizes are not a big advantage, will not really add to the immersion effect, and are probably mostly a product of marketing. ...

Like tgam1024 and pezley, I don't believe that curve displays are a dealbreaker or dealmaker, as I said in an earlier post. You have to take all of the characteristics of a given display into...

I'll take your word for it, foxbat121.

In my earlier post I suggested that a 105 or 108 inch screen was mentioned as the point at which the immersion effect would be noticeable. Since I don't have...

Just my three cents (due to inflation)

I think that when discussing curved screens we're in a kind of no man's land between hard science, subjectivity, and marketing.

I believe there is some science behind the so-called immersion...
